I Can't open or Edit my site

A few days ago I got my new website: www.TrujilloStore.com

I've been working great for the first few days, but now every time and after I login I cannot open or edit my "index" page. There is only a message: "Opening page".

Sometimes I have to wait for hours and I cannot open or edit or modify my website. When I am lucky and I can edit and modify my website, it allows me to work only for a few minutes. Yola is really, really driving me crazy...!!!

I saw other user's similar problem and I follow all the instructions that Yola's employees gave them, but I am still having the same problem.

As browser I'm using Explorer 8.0, I cleared my browser's cache, my browser accepts yola's cookies, I am not having any problem with my network or internet service provider, my browser is set to enable Javascript. I tried to work in another computer or network, I close and open my browser again many times, I also change my browser to FireFox, and I am still having the same problem. None of these suggestions solve my problem.

It is really frustrating, because I can't do anything in orde to update my webpage.

Can Yola Team or one of the 48 employees can help me out with this, PLEASE?

Thanks,

Edwin

It sounds like you have added some 'bad' code to one of your pages and its stopping the editor from opening.

If you can go in even for some minutes, try to delete any custom code you have added.

Its annoying i know, i lost my home page once after adding some code incorrectly, see if you can get in and delete the most likely source of the problem.

You see the editor reads code just like a browser does and if its incorrect it finds itself in a loop it carnt get out of.

Let us know if that works... Lee.

Hi Lee:

I added to my webpage only some pics and text, nothing else. Thanks for your advice. I will try to follow your advice in the future.

you have the flash advert in the middle of the page - first try to remove that - i presume you have the file saved somewhere. Then remove the text and images if needed - normamly a little bit of MS formating code wont stop the page from loading.

Hi Edwin,

When I view the source of your page (right-click > view source) I can see that you've copied and pasted from MS Word. Doing this can bring hidden formatting issues to the page (including not allowing it to load) and we recommend that you first paste the text into something like Notepad and then copy and paste it into your text widget.

We are working on more obvious ways to let everyone know that copying from Word is not a good idea :)

The solution - if it does eventually load in Firefox, delete the existing text and then re-add it to your page following the steps above. If it definitely doesn't load in Firefox (Firefox can be more accepting of this kind of thing), please send an email to us support@yola.com. Mark it for my attention, and I will try and fix it for you. Alternatively, you can delete the page and redo it.

Hi Marije,

After waiting many hours, finally I could edit my webpage. Yes, I copied and pasted text form MS Word. The next step I followed was to delete all my work I did before. Then I pasted the new text into Notepad then I copy and paste it into my text widget. I save my job and then I update my webpage.

To test again, I turned off my laptop. Turn on my laptop again and then I logged in to my webpage, but again I am still having the same problem: "Opening Page" . This happen when I use Internet explorer 8. When I use Firefox, sometimes Yola can open my "index" page, sometimes can't. Any other advise, please.

Thanks in advance

Edwin

Hello Edwin,

You have an impressive opening page. I really like the impact and the style.

One thing that may add a little delay is the total sum of the images. This works out to something greater than 300 Kb. Your first image being the largest at >100 Kb. This one could be reduced easily down to 40 kb or less for the size and detail warranted and possibly all could be taken down to 20 kb or near for the same reason. This will certainly hasten the builder response and to a less noticeable extent your published site opening speed. Image size tends to affect the builder more so than the published sites, I've found.

maybe worth a look at.

Good luck.
