I can still see my site just fine in the sitebuilder, but when I try to go to my webpage it won't load. I just put a new book up for sale and I really need my site to be functioning. Can anyone suggest a solution? The site is www.jenniferblackstream.com can anyone else view it?

Thanks,

Jenny

Hi Jennifer,

I see that the domain transfer is still pending. This usually takes 24 hours but can take a bit longer depending on the registrar. You can see your domain transfer status in your MyYola account under the domains tab. Please let us know if the transfer hasn't completed by Monday so we can investigate further.

Oh my lord. I had no idea my whole site would be down like this during the transfer. I don't think this could have come at a worse possible time, I had two promo opportunities both happening today, and now my website won't load for anyone who actually follows the links to my page. How much longer is it going to take?

Hello Jennifer

I'm sorry that the transfer is taking longer than you expected. We point out the waiting periods in our tutorial Transferring your domain to Yola to help users decide when it is the best time to do it.

We have checked your transfer status, and it is still in progress. I'm afraid that this is your old registrar's responsibility, and that it's beyond our control.

I hope your transfer process will be completed soon!

For the sake of people who are new to building and maintaining their own websites, please add a note to your transfer tutorial explicitly telling people their website will be completely unavailable for the almost two weeks it takes for the transfer. That would have been really helpful.

Thanks,

Jenny

Hello Jennifer

Thank you for pointing this out to us. We will consider it and add more information to our tutorial.

By the way: While your website cannot be online under the domain you are transferring during the transfer process, you can always publish it to a free Yolasite subdomain for the time being. Just click on "Publish to the Web" and choose a free Yolasite subdomain for your site. I know this cannot replace your custom domain, but you may find this a better solution than your website being completely offline.

When I click on "Publish to the Web" it automatically publishes it to my custom domain. It doesn't give me the option to publish it to a free yola subdomain. When I found my website was completely down, I tried going to the original free subdomain "www.jenniferblackstream.yolasite.com" but that didn't work either.

Hello Jennifer

I have removed your pending custom domain jenniferblackstream.com from your website, and re-added your free subdomain http://jenniferblackstream.yolasite.com/.

I was able to open your website under the yolasite subdomain. Please clear your cache and check on your end if you can view your website as well.

Once the status of your domain (My Yola > Domains) has changed and your domain has been transferred successfully, you will be able to re-assign your custom domain to your website and make it the primary domain by clicking on "Advanced Settings" next to your website name on your My Yola dashboard.

Let us know if you have any questions in the meantime.

I cleared my cache and tried to open www.jenniferblackstream.yolasite.com, but it just immediately switches to www.jenniferblackstream.com and won't load.

Hi Jennifer,

I'm sorry for the delay of publishing your site to a subdomain. Now it finally works. Please clear your cache or use a different browser to check.

As soon as you see that your domain transfer has been completed under My Yola > Domains, you can publish your website to your transferred domain as explained in this tutorial: Assigning domains and creating a primary domain.

Please let us know if it shouldn't work or you need further assistance.

Jennifer, I have just noticed that your site still redirects to your custom domain intermittently. We are pretty sure that the domain transfer will be through soon.

If you'd still like me to have our engineers try to fix this for you for the time being, please let me know, but I think you will have your custom domain soon.

I'm sorry that it didn't work out in time.
