I need help with xspf_player.swf and Playlists and I'm about to pull my hair out!

I need help with xspf_player.swf on my website. The page it's contained on was written by somebody else. The Playlist reference is not actually written into the code for the page itself. I need to edit the Playlist, but no Playlist file actually exists. He did this specifically because at the time we didn't want the songs to be downloadable, so the directory where the songs are contained is not visible anywhere in the page code. Naturally, the guy who wrote the code for this page is nowhere to be found, so I don't know what he did to create this page the way he did. I have studied the code over and over and I'm just stumped. If anybody can help me with this, I would be most grateful. Thanks for your time. Scott.

Hello Scott,

Can you post the code here?

swf files are usually of a common type for this application . xspf playlists files if true are of a very strict format.

The other option : if you have the music files then really that's all you need. The players are all around. Then you would simply build the xspf file

Sigh, I was afraid somebody would ask for the code. It's lengthy, which is why I didn't post it in my original question.

Now, just tell me HOW to post it so the HTML code doesn't try to display as the web page itself. I just tried posting this comment a minute ago with the code in it, but when it posted, it read the code (well, most of it) and tried to display it in the comment window as though it were the actual web page.

I DID think about just rewriting the whole page with a different music player, but I really like the idea that if anybody clicks on Page>View Source there's no listing of the sub-directory where the music files are located. I had really hoped to preserve that aspect. As it is right now, when the page loads, the player displays 7 songs to listen to. I have 8 more to add, but as you will see, if I can ever get the code to you, there's no reference to a Playlist at all. Nor is there a file that even remotely looks like it could be the Playlist anywhere in the entire site, including all sub-directories. That's why I'm ready to pull all my hair out. Lol.

Any help or guidance you can offer will be appreciated. Thank you.

Hi Scott,

Surround the code with <!-- at the beginning and close it off with --> at the end

eg: <!--
<code in here>
-->

if that doesn't work create a page on a site that you have and paste it into a text widget. post the URL here and we can see it that way. A trick offered by Monique a few days ago. Knew it would come in handy :)

I hear what you are saying about the undisclosed file or code. I won't be able to see anything in it but it's worth a long shot I guess. The security issue I think can be dealt with and I will chase that up with you.

Maybe a slow process but as long as you know the tracks then you will get a result I'm sure.

Peter:

I copied and pasted it into a Notepad file. You can find it here:

http://www.thediazbros.com/miscellane...

I plugged it into my browser, and naturally, it still tries to display the web page itself. I tried clicking Page>View Source and it was all there, so you'll probably have to do the same. Regardless, it's the complete code for the page in question. The only problem is it's looking for referenced objects that aren't in that sub-directory. Let me know when you have the file so I can go delete that sub-directory from my site. Thanks again for your support.

Hi Scott,

Got that copied so you can take it off if you like.

There's really nothing relevant there at all. The player is somewhere in the same file as the address doesn't refer beyond the current directory. I don't think this is from a Synthasite website?

No reference to the playlist there.

The player is not a problem but the playlist is :)

Do you have the music files? If you do I'll work on creating a playlist without enhancements. I'll direct you to a player. I think I can get advice on security of your files and directories.

Scott,

forgot to add that if the music files are hosted on another site should be able to call the music from there.

Okay, the site is restored. I really don't want to leave it open too long as it needs major updating. However, the pages all work and the music player works. You can go take a look and see if you can figure out anything I've been trying to explain. Here's the link: www.deepfrymovie.com -- enjoy!
