How do i create a single page that has no other menu items that can redirect visitors to my site? Here is an example of what i mean... http://www.garysaderup.com/ as you can see it has no menu items just the word "Enter" which when clicked, redirects visitors to the site and allows them to move around the site without going back to this single page when clicking a "Home" tab.

Hello ZakS,

Yola does not currently have an Entry Page feature; although if it is really important to you, you could create two sites, one site as a one page site and the "Entry Page" which you could then link to the main site. I hope you will be able to make that work for you.

Here is a link to another post where some users were discussing some ideas surrounding this topic: http://forum.yola.com/yola/topics/hel....

I hope that helps!

Hello ZakS

If you want to add a page without a menu on it and just an image like that with "Enter" all you need to do is drag over an HTML widget and paste this in:

<style type="text/css">
#menu {
display:none;
}
</style>

You can just make your current homepage as the entry and then add a "home" page and that would be the page they get redirected to after clicking Enter.

If you need any assistance with this please let me know.

Hi ZakS, all you have to do is make the 'index' page the page with no menu on it. But before you do that you will want to save a copy of your 'index' page and name the copy 'home' and then you will have two copies of the index page. On 'index' put in the code to take out the menu and then add in whatever you want, like a link linking to the 'home' page.

Whenever you want to edit your homepage just go to 'home' in the site builder and edit that and then the 'index' page will be the intro page.

I hope this helps!

Just click on the arrow on the Save button and then type in the new page name (I suggest 'home') and then it will create it for you. You can also change settings such as "display in navigation" and "password protect"

No, the index page is the page that you will always end up on if you go to the domain. So the index page will have to be your intro page with the link and then you can name the copy to whatever you want. But home sounds good, but it doesn't matter what name you use for the fake homepage. Just make sure to drag out the index page out of your navigation and have the 'home' page in your navigation. And if you didn't know you can click on "Edit Navigation" and rename what the pages say in your navigation. But that wont change the name that will change what the link to the page says in the navigation.

If you have any more questions please ask.

Ok, I used your suggestion about the html and that worked, it got rid of the tabs, but there is still a bar that is behind the tabs,(picture example, sorry, I took the picture with my phone, I don't have a screen camera) which is still there, and I would like to get rid of it as well. Is there an html code for that? Also if I already have an index page how do i switch the index page to my new "enter" page? without messing up my existing index page?

Hello ZakS

To remove that bar, you will need to implement this code:

<style type="text/css">

background: none;
}

</style>

To switch index page, please follow these steps:

1. Rename the current index page, using Save > Save Page As (this is if you want to keep the content on that page and not re-add it later).
2. Then rename the page you would like to be your index page, also using the Save > Save Page As function, to "index" (make sure that you use the lower case i, not a capital I).
3. A dialog box will pop up in your browser to check whether you want to overwrite the existing index page. Click "OK".
4. You will have a duplicate of your index page, which you can delete in Site Manager.

Please let me know if you have any trouble with this.

Ah.. my apologies! Here's the correct code!

<style type="text/css">
#header {
background: none;
}
</style>

When renaming your index page - please be sure to use the Save Page As feature. This will duplicate your index page and you can call it something else. Then on the page you wish to make your index page, you need to also use the "Save Page As" feature, and then give it "index".

If you need any further assistance, please let me know.

cool that code worked. Now, I used the midnight style (one of the free ones.) and if you look at it theres a little bit of background that fades from black to a light gray. is there a code to get rid of that?

Hello ZakS

In the above code, after the

#header {
background: none;
}

add in this part:

#wrapper {
background: none;
}

Wow,
Thank you so much for your help. Now is there anyway that i can get rid of the "designed by free css templates" and " make a free website" brandings for just this one page? I dont mind them on my other pages but if i could remove them from just this one page that would be great.
Thank you.

Hi ZakS, I am sorry to tell you but this would be against the TOS even though it is only one page. Lets see what an employee says.

P.S You definitely have to keep "Designed by Free CSS Templates" because since they are offering the templates for free to Yola, they have to keep that credit on there.

Sincerely,
Nathan

Yeah that's what I thought, like i said i don't mind them on my other pages because I know that I have to give credit. But on this specific page i was curious because I've changed the whole layout and now its plain black with my website name and then the "Enter" link which would then give credit on all my pages of the actual site...

Hello ZakS

Thank you for asking this question. You do need to keep the designer credit on your pages as this is part of the agreement we have with the designers who so graciously provided the templates for your use.

Is there anyway to remove the image at the top of my page? (The layout image that is...)

It is the image that is at the top of the layout, not a widget.

Hello ZakS

It is not possible to remove the banner area from a web page. The banner is a site-wide feature.

If you would like to have a page without a banner, there are a couple of workarounds that you can try:

1. You can upload a banner that is the same background color of your style which so that it blends in with the background. It will give the appearance that there is no banner on the page.

2. You can change to a style that doesn't have a banner such as NoFrills or SqueakyClean.

If you use one of these styles and then want a banner you can upload banners to the page(s) you would like to, using the Picture Widget.

I hope this helps.

Hey ZakS! You can actually use this code in an HTML widget to hide that banner, but you'll need to add it to every page:

<style type="text/css">
#sys_banner {
display:none;
}
</style>

That will remove the banner for you!

I hope this helps

Wow Nathan you sure know your stuff, thank you so much for the help you have given me. Now I'm curious, is there a way to create a page without a layout? So I can create the layout on my own?

Hello ZakS. I don't think there is a way to make your own layout. Maybe someone else has an idea. Do you mean like put stuff any where on the page and position it any where? You can do this using CSS. If you'd like to do this let me know.

Hi, ZakS,

If you upgrade to Yola Silver, you can customize the CSS as Nathan suggested above one time and it is applied site wide!

Yeah that is an awesome feature! I love it. I am using it for all my CSS for my site now, like for my custom menu and stuff, this is exciting!

You can do that right through an HTML widget. I will make a code for you to position it wherever you want. I need these answers though:

- How much pixels from the top of the page that you want to the element to appear.

- How much pixels from the left, or right, of the page that you want the element to spear.

- The element you are wanting to position (is it a image, a text widget, or...?)

Thats it, and you can change it anytime you like to once I give you the code.

Sincerely,
Nathan

ok well im not sure what I would want right now I was just wondering if it could be done. Cause like I had asked previously i would like my entry page to not have the "Designed by..." branding at the bottom so if theres a way that I can have just a plain black page with nothing on it that i could then drag my widgets over to... Any ideas?

Hi ZakS, I'm sorry but no, there isn't a way to do this. Hopefully someday Yola does allow this, because I'm sure there is lots of people wanting to do this!

Hello ZakS

If you're looking for a style which does not have a Designer credit, I recommend that you try one of these following styles:

cleanslate
nofrills
squeakyclean
barenecessities
burlap

All of these also offer customizable backgrounds.

Alternatively, by upgrading to Yola Silver, this allows you unlimited access to our Premium Styles. All these styles do not have any designer credit.
