If I buy a pro address will my links still work?

I would like to buy a real address. I've worked hard to get my little website, the FREE version, to rank well for my keywords and I'm making a little money from my site, now. The next step is to buy a real domain.

My concern: Will I have to go through the whole google ranking process all over again? Will my old yolasite.com address still work? Like if a person clicks on a yolasite.com link, will it take them to my new .com address?

Will google drop my site like a hot potato when the .yolasite.com address is replaced with the shiny, new .com address? Will I have to go through the whole re-indexing thing again?

I know these questions may sound confusing but that's the only way I know to ask them.

Thanks guys!

Hi Blondie,

If your site is already published to a Yola subdomain, you can easily purchase your own domain when you click on 'Update my Site'. The subdomain will automatically redirect to your new address (www.example.com). This way, you won't lose the value of any links or visitors that only know your old location and they'll see your new domain.

Please let us know if you have any further questions about this.

Thank you, Ruth. Will my google ranking be affected? Or will it be business as usual?

Thank You!

*Bump it*

Will my google ranking be affected? I don't want to lose my place in line, so to speak. ;)

Thank You!

Hi Blondie

A 301 redirect informs the search engines that your content has been permanently moved to a new address. This is what we implement for you when you buy a custom domain for a site that is currently published to a free domain. As such, you will not lose any ranking and you can continue as usual. Just make sure that you keep your site published to both addresses and it will update to both automatically, but all traffic will go to your bought domain.

Awesome! Thank you. Uhm..how do I keep my site published to both addresses? Do I have to do anything differently or just keep doing what I'm doing with my site builder?

Thank You!

Hi Blondie - you don't need to do anything different. Your site is published to both domains and will be updated when you click on "Update my Site".

Hey All,

I have sites all over the place...it's my hobby. No one ever visits my sites, but hey, we can't have everything, now can we?

The new site is www.dermarollermagic.com. Check me out!

The site looks great - i would suggest having only 1 line of links in the main nav and turn off the music.

Oh, and www.sugar-daddys.com is new, too. I've always wanted a sugar daddy...without the strings attached - LOL! It's just a site to showcase my writing, however bad it may be. I'll add thoughts and observations, too...it will be my diary, of sorts. And while I'm here...http://meditating.yolasite.com this is new, as well. :)

Hi Lee!

Yes, I agree with you about the links...I'd like to have the nav links on the left side, but I don't know how to do it with the template I've chosen...?

Thanks, Lee, it's good to e-chat with you again!
