This could be a tricky solution. I like a template available but it's not provided with colour mod facility. The banner however can be replaced.

is there a way of saving the template and modifying it independently and then replacing the original with as the reworked banner?

Hi Peter,

That's a really good question. Unfortunately, the answer during this current stage in the Site Builder's development is that it only can be done using customized HTML and CSS coding / scripting, which is something we don't really encourage doing. Any kind of "adjustments" that one attempts to make to the template style, which is basically what you're asking about, runs a big risk of breaking the website (e.g. pages won't load anymore). This is because the newly written code could potentially interfere with our code.

For adventurous folks that want to branch out and learn these skills, there are several good websites out there that give helpful step-by-step instructions, such as
tizag.com,
thesitewizard.com and
htmlbasix.com.

Again, please proceed with caution before adding HTML code to your page that could interfere with the template style (a.k.a. CSS) format. Here's another Get Satisfaction post that gives some more background information on this:

about adding HTML...

Keep saving your work as you go. And it's always a good practice to copy & paste what you're working on into another document (a text editor, a word doc), so that you can always go back to an original version if something goes wrong...

"Customizable template styles" -- that give YOU the ability to change the borders, menu font size, color & style (among other things) is just one of the many features that we're working on, in order to make SynthaSite the best web creation tool out there. Keep checking back for announcements of our upcoming releases.

Me too, Peter. And you are very welcome! And thanks for asking the question, because I'm sure many people out there have wondered the same thing.

I was just playing with it. I saved the original banner graphic by right clicking and then edited the image with changes of colour. Created a dummy page on my site and then replaced the original banner with the edited image. Worked well.
