Any idea where and how I can make an explosive banner? I'm tired of this plain stuff! I want something that's going to tell the visitor they are in the right place! I'm not an artist and lacking software. How about some kind of dynamic banner with animation!? A resource for a banner maker would be helpful, unless someone wants to make me one!?

I'm just looking for a banner for top of the page! (preferably 900 x 130 to 950 x 150)

1Stop Martial Arts

is the name - I'm hoping to have a martial arts themed banner! Colorful, but not too bright (burgandy instead of red as an example) but any colors will work!

I want my visitors to think this is the only place they need to go to learn about the martial arts online - so feel free to think of a slogan! And any other ideas you may have! Preferably with some kind of animation (as long as it doesn't give them a headache).

hey, it fits! The font resembles the martial arts. So it's pretty good! I'll use that for now, if you come up with anything better in the future, let me know! :)

Uhmmm, it does look nice but it kind of looks like I (as in me) Stop Martial Arts. Maybe it should be spelled out--One? Just a thought.

those are nice! I might use them all and the one John created. I'll use a different one for each main category - getting started and all sub pages, About us and all sub pages, etc.

I have 8 main categories, don't suppose you can accomodate 7 banners and I'll use the one John created for one category!? :)

if you go to the actual image, what does right click option do?

try going to the image (only thing on the page is the image and it's a blank white page)... right click it. If it has the save picture as option, give me the link to each picture. To do that, just insert link (file) and create a link to that picture!

I will make 3 more if you need them.Keep in mind, that the first one(the one on a verry top of the page)is most complicated and takes much longer to load. Two last ones (bottom of the page) are smaller and will load much faster

view my site! Although, there's more to see when you're logged in, feel free to register and login. And do not come back to me and tell me my register and login is broken, I might throw my computer at you! those things are a pain in the butt!

Now. It`s done. Go to my page www.audiovisualdesigns.eu there will be downloads link (main meniu).Try to download and tell me when you are done,I will block that page then.Give me couple days and I wil reduce the size of those first two banners,so you1ll be able to reduce the loading time of your page.I have the fifth one already running and up.This one should be nearly the same colour as your background.

Donald,

Two thoughts. First, you can probably still use the "1" in your banner if you add a hyphen - "1-Stop" is probably clear enough in meaning.

Second, you might want to think about purchasing Photoshop Elements at some point. I bought v. 8 a few weeks ago for $70 (after rebate) at Amazon.com. It's quite a nifty program, and I feel much more self-sufficient now that I have it.

yes, when my websites (aka "schemes" - lmao) gets me some money, I'll start investing. But with kids and no job, I can't afford to invest just yet! Maybe this site will give me better luck since it is where my experience lies!

Donald, I hear you. Really I do. In terms of your websites, you remind me of myself because you like to take a topic, usually a really big one, and cover it all from one end to the other. I'm trying to break myself of that tendency, because I feel that, for me at least, it just ends in defeat. I'm trying to force myself to take up smaller topics, to go for the "niche." I think there is more possibility for making some money with that approach. And I can have maybe 10-20 niche topics, that would be more fun and might make more money, instead of 2 huge big subjects that I really don't have the resources to do right. What do you think?

you're probably right to some extent. The purpose of taking a really big topic and applying it, is simply to increase your market. For example, if you build a website explaining the hardware of a computer, your market is people needing help with hardware. If you build a website explaining computers, your market is people needing help with hardware, software, internet, web design, and the list continues... What I'm afraid of is building a site with too small of a scope and at some point having my income permanently decrease! Right now, I've decided to take my experience (martial arts) and apply it to my web design experience and see how that works. With nearly 24 years in the martial arts (and I'm 27) I believe my expertise is something people will want and trust that I know what I'm talking about. It'll also attempt to be the largest martial arts database anywhere (eventually) to include a martial arts directory and to include only martial arts ads and many many more... here, take a look...

http://1stop-martial-arts.zymichost.c...

I also need to know if I should have the break lines in between the lists or if I should do without them!?

Niche marketing is really a good way to go. For broader topics, you may find yourself up against companies that have dedicated employees just doing SEO, SEM, social networking, adding web content every day, etc. Focusing on something more specific that people are interested in may be easier to get noticed. Do a google search on "long tail keywords". Martial arts is a good topic though and if it's something you know and love you are more likely to be successful.

The break lines are fine as such but why are you duplicating what your main navigation bar (the gray one) is already doing a good job of? Your home page has about 10 seconds to engage a user and let them know if the website contains what they're looking for. You should have a brief paragraph (with keywords) that lets them know what you are going to do for them. And graphics--a picture is worth a thousand words--something that 's going to make them want to click through to the next page.

A thought--design websites for martial artists, dojos, etc. It's a good niche market. Here's one I did for a client as an example (though I'm not saying it necessarily does all of the above! :) ) http://www.tejutsukaimartialarts.com

Hey John, just wondering if we can test something out!?

Perhaps you can make it so the kicking person kicks the "S" on the end and change the position of the S to make it look like it was knocked silly! Not sure of limits you have on the program you're using, but I just wouldn't mind seeing how this looks!? :)
