Image resizing driving me insane! Please Help!

Greetings

I think there may be a bug in the text with regards to resizing and inserting images edited with Picnik.

1) Resizing image using text widget - I have been trying to resize an image/s using the corner nodes. I have been experiencing 2 challenges with this. First of all the "black" corner node does not appear as per the instructions in the tutorial. Secondly, When I use the normal white corner nodes the image dimensions are not visible. Maybe I can find the black corner node because my theme (Midnight) has a black background.

2) After I edit/resize an image in Picnik, I save and insert the new image into the text widget. The problem is that it appears in its original form as if no changes have been made. I tried to do this numerous times as per Moniques instructions but end up with the same result.

Please advise

I hate that when you resize an image you get a black background. How do I get rid of the black background and where in re-editing do I save it or how do I save it?

Hi Jody

1) In the text widget best way to view the image dimensions is to click to the right of the image and hit enter on your keyboard a half dozen times then click on the image to resize and as soon as you drag the corner the dimensions will appear.

2) I as well had this problem with picnik and at times had to delete the image and reload a new image after the resize. It does not happen always but when it does it is quite annoying is it not? I feel for you. Just try deleting the old and updating then adding a new.

Happy site building

Hi Ed

Thanks for the advice.

Regarding the first point: I tried clicking to the right of the image then hitting enter a couple of times, then I clicked on the image corner node to resize but did not see any image dimensions appear.

However, regarding your second point: I did delete the image and reload it again and it worked!

Thanks for the help! You're a star!

Thanks for the welcome back Marije

I hope I was missed ;)))

Hi Jody

Hmmm well when you had the problem I used my test site and switched to the midnight style and did the same as I described and the image dimensions appeared without fail. I wonder what might be the problem as you cannot see it. Could try using a fresh Text widget and insert an image then see if it happens again. Sometimes text widgets get caught up in the content and errors occur for no specific reason. As you probably have seen my site and its content being sizable and here and there I have seem most of the issues that can and do arise.

Glad you got the images to work in your second point... Great job

Keep it up and happy site building
Ed

Oh and the red dot appears only in the image widget and not the text widget ;)

Hi Jody

I use midnight as well....When I insert a photo I see a red node to click on and drag to the size I want.You may have to click on the photo before you see it.The pic re-size right on the page is one of the things I like best here.Oh I never use picnik as there are many better and free programs here on the net...Two simple but good ones are paint.net and photoscape.org

Hi John

Hmmm...I still do not see the "red" corner node even after clicking on the picture. But I will definitely check out those other free programs you suggested. Thanks!

Hi everybody

This is just a suggestion.

You can also add images to your pages using the html widget with the following code.

<!--- <img width="XXXX" height="XXXX" src="/resources/imagefile.gif"> --->

Remove the <!--- --->

Basically, you can set the XXXX to what ever width and height you want.

And "imagefile.gif" can be changed to whatever the name of the image file you are trying to show (it doesn't have to be .gif)

good luck
Hey guys,

You can resize an image easy using Paint .Make a copy of the picture,drag in Paint,click on Image,and you have Resize&Skew.
Good luck!
