Hello, I'm having a problem with up loading images, I've prepared the image and when I upload it eventually shows as a low res version? I've tried altering the size in the editor and sometimes it goes to the original res and looks like it should and then when saved it reverts back to the low res again, re up loading and re saving and publishing have no effect? A colleague has the same problem on a different yola site

Hello AlexS

Did you resize your images with our built-in feature Aviary, or did you use an external image editor?

Hello AlexS

What you're talking about is the resizing feature within the Picture Widget. If it indeed changes the resolution of your pictures, then I'd suggest to crop your pictures in that external editor you're using, and get it into the right size there already. Then upload it to Yola and check if the resolution has changed. It should stay the same because the Yola Sitebuilder or File Manager will not change your uploaded pictures automatically unless you edit them by using the red line resizing feature or Aviary.

The benefit of getting your pictures to the desired measurements in an external editor is that you can make all your pictures the same size. The red line resizing feature is actually designed for quick image editing, and it's not so easy to make all pictures of a page the same size when you use it. If you use the same values for the measurements of each picture when you edit it in an image editor, it's easier to handle in the first place.

Does that make sense? Please let me know if you have more questions.

Hello thanks for the reply, yeah it does but its not that because when I've re uploaded I haven't changed the size just published it and it still looks low res? When I've re uploaded I've over written the previos file as well. Could it be the optimizer option as it looks like its been optimzed and the button doesn't seem to make any difference whether its on or off? Cheers

Hello AlexS

Sorry for coming back to you late. I think it would be best if you could show me an example. Let me know the exact file name and on which page the picture displays, so that I'll be able to check and compare it.

Hello AlexS

After you have uploaded the edited image, can you please check in your Yola File Manager if the resolution has changed? To do this, please go to your File Manager (Site > File Manager), click on the picture and then on the magnifying glass at the bottom right to preview it. Is the preview in File Manager different from your original image? If so, please post your edited image here for me to upload it to your File Manager and check if it changes for me as well.

If the File Manager preview shows you the correct resolution of your image, it shouldn't be changed when adding via a Picture Widget unless you activate optimization. I've tested this on your website, turned optimization off, and I couldn't see a difference between your image in the File Manager and the image on your website.

Hi Alex,

It does look as if the image optimiser is turned on.

Delete the images from your page, turn off the optimiser and re-place the images on the page.

If this still isn't working then try using HTML and place the picture via HTML. This isn't affected by the optimiser and is a good check.
