Hi, I am having a lot of grief with my images not loading correctly on any of my browsers - Google Chrome 8.0.552.224, IE 8.0.7300.16386, or Firefox 3.6.12. My website is www.scheidtster.com

Please see captured images showing this problem at:

My RSS feed in Google Reader also does not show images properly:

Please advise!

Hello Ryan, I am sorry you are having this problem. Are you sure you don't have images disabled in those browsers? Can you load other images on other sites? Also, what type of internet connection do you have? I am using Google Chrome and Firefox and Safari and I can load images in all of the browsers. But, I can't test it in IE because I don't use IE. (I don't recommend it either) What do you see when you load the page? Have you given the page some time to load, because if you have a slow internet connection, it takes a while to load images. How long where you on the page? Also in the Status bar does it say "Waiting for <website>..." ? (And <website> will be the URL of the site its waiting on) Does it say something like that in the status bar?

We are excited to help you! Please let us know this info so we can help you further.

Thanks for the lightening fast response! I am sure that images are not disabled. I am able to view other image-intensive websites like Flickr, Facebook, etc. fine. I do have a satellite internet connection, which may be a contributing factor, but like I said, I have never had issues with images not loading on sites before - my DL speeds for files are on the order of 40-100 KB/sec, so it's not like it's dial-up speed. The strange thing is that when I log-in to the Yola manager, my website looks completely fine, with all images. But once I log out, and try to view images, only about half of them seem to load, the other ones either being empty or a red 'X'. In regards to wait time, I waited probably 30 seconds - until the webpage has fully loaded. I am 99% sure these are not screen captures of web pages only partially loaded.

No problem! So now you found out that images are not disabled, could you have a friend try accessing your website on a different network (internet connection) and see if that helps? If they can access it and see all of the images fine, then that means it probably has something to do with your internet connection (I don't know why though, since it is loading other site's images). I am viewing your site and I can see all images fine. There isn't any X's that appear. I am sorry to hear this is happening and I hope we can get this fixed! :)

Using the latest firefox, your site and blog pages look fine to me. I can see all the images--no red X's.

Best of luck in Morocco. I commend you on your service.

Hi, I uploaded some more screen captures to show how only half of the images will load, yet Flickr - the next tab over in Google Chrome, loads without a hitch. I am confused as how this can be a connection-related problem, if Flickr and other sites load just fine, i.e. I am wondering whether it is a server problem with my website on Yola? Also see the IE screen capture with "Done" clearly at bottom. Also note the time in the bottom right hand corner, so these are all done at nearly the same time, after loading each page:

Thanks, but did you know you can put the images right in replies on this forum? Just click "Add an image" to upload it. But I see them, and it is showing that symbol that the image is not available. That is wierd. We all can see them. Have you had a friend try it or somebody on a different internet connection?

Hmm. I just tried disablign Protected Mode in IE to see if that changed anything, as well as tried turning on and off Windows Firewall and Microsoft Security Essentials, but it's still doing the same thing regardless of the setting. It's encouraging that others have yet to experience my same problem, but I'll continue to investigate. I have noticed that the three pictures of my Arabic script always load OK, but the other pictures in that "Berber carpet, yo" post tends to not load. In fact, when I try right-clicking (in Chrome), and open them in a new tab, the Arabic picture shows up fine, but the other one does not (see images...thanks Nathan, did not know that). I thought perhaps my anti-virus didn't like my formatting of image names (lots of underscores) and was blocking them because of suspicious filenames (?), but as I said, a quick disabling of both Windows Firewall and Microsoft Security Essentials did not change the image loading problem. At any rate, I'll let you guys know what I find out. In the end, maybe it is my internet connection, but the thing is, I've yet to encounter a similar problem in any other website.

Oh so you cant even see the image through the direct url. Do you have McAfee or browser add ons for all of those browsers? Can you list all of your add ons, thanks. (Add ons are toolbars, bookmarklets, etc.)

Hi, thanks. I do not have any paid anti-virus - no Norton or McAfee. I just have the free Microsoft Security Essentials, and I tried again completely disabling both it and Microsoft Firewall, but to no avail. Under Chrome, I just have two extensions - Add to Amazon Wish List, and a Real Player download extension. Disabling both did not change anything. The thing that makes me confused is that every other website I visit is fine - e.g. look at attached images of Facebook, Google Images, DeviantArt, and Photobucket. I have tried refreshing the direct URLs to some of the non-Arabic images and they almost always don't work. I did get one to go back one, but then one minute later, after refreshing, it was back to an X. As always, the three Arabic notebook pictures always load fine. I have always been weary of the File Manager - perhaps I will try moving the images to a New Folder. This is all very strange to me...

Yeah I see that. I wonder what is causing it, can you see it in the file manager and your site's preview?

Hi rscheidt2

I wonder if there is a problem with your ISP blocking images. Can you please contact them to find out if there is any reason you may be having this problem.

Something else you can try is to log on to Yola from a computer that is using a different ISP, e.g. at an internet cafe.

Please let us know if there are any changes.

Good luck!

Hello,

I tried loading my blog on my both my Nokia N85 cell phone and on a different computer downstairs (all with same ISP) and they both worked fine, as did loading my RSS feed with pictures, so it looks like it's something specific to my laptop - most likely a software issue. I will look more into this and double-check my security/firewall/anti-virus settings and let you know what I find out!

Thanks for all the help/probing questions.

Hello,

I tried yesterday again on my cell phone and downstairs and the pictures would not load. Right now, I am logged onto my local library's internet, and my pictures are also NOT loading...so I believe this is a Yola server problem. Is there a way to check that the server is functioning properly?

Nathan: I can see the pictures in File Manger and the page appears normally in site's preview.

I tried changing the location of those pictures that were giving me a hard time - into a sub-folder within "Resources", and it seemed to fix the problem...if I take a look at a different blog post with pictures, they still don't load properly, but the most recent one, with the pictures moved to a new subfolder, seem to work ok...hmm...

Hello rescheidt2

This is a bit of a puzzle. Would you be able to share with us the URL of one particular image file that does not seem to work?

Thank you for your continued patience as we work on this together.

Hello,

Today I went back to the library and logged on to the internet (on my same laptop from home) and the web page that did not load images correctly last time - http://www.scheidtster.com/blog/paint... - now loaded fine.

I also went to Panera and Barnes & Noble, and with both internet connections on my same laptop, the website loads fine, as does my RSS feed with all images.

From this, I think I can conclude that this is NOT an issue with my laptop's antivirus or firewall settings, is NOT an issue with my home's router firewall or ISP's connection - after all, it wouldn't make sense for an ISP to block only some images of a website.

I'm tending to think that this is an intermittent Yola server problem, because I have seen the pages load both correctly and incorrectly now on my laptop - both at home (on my laptop, cell phone, and computer downstairs) and at the local library (today it worked, yesterday it didn't)...

Has any other customer at Yola experienced anything similar to this? Is it possible that if I re-upload all of my image files, that this will alleviate the problem? Is there a limit (or bug relating) to how many images can be uploaded to a single folder (i.e. the "Resources" folder)?

If I encounter the page loading incorrectly, I will try to post on this page, and see if others can see the same problem as well.
