When i want to point my site to my own domain i get the following error:
There was an error: INTERNAL SERVER ERROR.

I have pointed my domain to the given ip "184.72.229.176" (actually I got the service provider to do it for me).

Can anyone help?

Hi LGBT Pavee,

Were 2 A records added for the pointing? One of the www. version and the other for the non-www. version. If you're not sure you can let us know the domain name and it can be checked remotely.

After that is completed the propagation through the web can take up to 48-72 hours but generally much quicker.

Hi LGBT Pavee,

In additional to having the correct IP address, we also want to confirm that you have completed all of the steps to set up pointing.

How to configure a domain name you already own:

-Log in to your chosen domain registrar (e.g., GoDaddy.com, Register.com).
-Go to the DNS Management page.
-Set up two A records.
-The IP address of the records must point to: 184.72.229.176.

To set up the two A records:

-Some domain registrars require one A record with the hostname "@" and one with the hostname "www".

-Other domain registrars allow you to create one hostname called "domain.com" and another "www" (replace "domain" with your own address).

-Both should point to our IP address: 184.72.229.176.

If you require assistance with this, please contact your domain registrar.

Please note: It can take up to 48 hours (although usually less) for these changes to take effect and you need to contact your domain registrar if you need help in that regard. Feel free to forward any instructions you receive from them to us so that we can advise you further.

Once you have configured your DNS settings, if your site is already published to a Yola subdomain, go to My Yola.

-Click on "Domains".
-Under "Add a domain you already own" select "Want to keep your domain registered with another registrar?"
-Type your domain name into the required field, and select the site you'd like to use it with.
-Click "Add".
-Follow steps provided.

If you still have trouble in 48 hours, please let us know the domain name as Gop suggested.

Thanks for your help!

Kind regards,
Jen

Thanks for the reply Jen and Gop (sorry about earlier too, over posting x)

I can confirm that the settings are as directed, I emailed the (letshost.com) and made sure they were correct. I have checked the domain address myself and I get a yola page asking me to finish the process.

The domain is lgbtpavee.com

So I assume that it went through?

Although when it comes to adding a 'domain registered with another register', I add the domain address etc however I get a message that indicates an error.

Is it just too soon or have I done something in error?
Many thanks

Hello LGBT Pavee

I'm afraid that the Yola placeholder page is not a reliable resource to check whether your external domain is pointing to Yola correctly or not. You can look up your domain settings with an independent look-up tool here: http://www.kloth.net/services/dig.php

When I enter your domain without www, your A record is fine, but with the www, I don't get the right settings. Judging from the kloth result and your last screenshot above, it looks like you've added our IP address as a CNAME. Domain pointing to Yola only works with A records. You will need to set up/edit one for without www and one for with www. The A record for without www seems to be set up correctly as I can see in your last screenshot, however, the www one shouldn't be a CNAME, but also an A record. Please forward this information to the Support of your other provider and ask them to assist you with adding the correct A records.

Keep us posted on this thread.

I passed it along and they have gotten back to me, saying that the setting has being altered as you suggested. I logged in and took a screen shot to make sure.

Domain is still returning with internal error.

Thanks for this by the way :)

Hi LGBT Pavee,

Like before, you'll want to give this about 48 hours to fully propagate. Please try again later and let us know what happens.
