How do you put a video on your website, my introduction page(I made that my index page), so when people enter, the video plays automatically and at the end of the video it goes to my home page(that is technically my second page)? Also, if the people do not want to see the video on the introduction, i would like there to be a skip intro button so they could go automatically to the home page. please help quickly! Thanks.

Hello Michael,

You could put in a redirect code to take people immediately to your home page but I suggest not doing this as people may have different internet speeds. It will be difficult to determine what would be the best time to redirect. Instead, I would create a text link or button link to your homepage.

You can hide the default menu on your home page by inserting a bit of code. If you could let me know what style you are using, I can construct the code needed to remove the default menu from your index page.

Ok. The second part of what you wrote is sort of what I am looking for. I would like my website's introduction page to not have the defaut menu. I just want my video by itself. I want my video to play immediatly after someone enters my website, yet I want there to be a text link on the side so that if the person does not want to watch the video (this video is from you-tube), they can just click the text link and go to the home page. Also, if the person watches the video, I want the website to go to the home page after the video finishes. Here is a perfect example is this website. http://kilroyspackage.com/ (go to this website to see what I am looking for) Also, the style that I am using is called midnight. Thank you so much.

Hello Michael,

You can get a YouTube video to play automatically when someone opens your site.

However, you will need to edit the code from YouTube.

Here is how to do it

1. Drag and drop an HTML Widget onto your page.
2. Paste your code into the HTML Editor.
3. Then edit the code to make the video play automatically. This is how you edit the code:

o Original code:
<object width=”425&#8243; height=”344&#8243;><param name=”movie” value=”https://www.youtube.com/v/Fmk4A_W4JrE&... src=”https://www.youtube.com/v/Fmk4A_W4JrE&... type=”application/x-shockwave-flash” width=”425&#8243; height=”344&#8243;></embed></object>
o Replace the code: https://www.youtube.com/v/Fmk4A_W4JrE&...
o With: https://www.youtube.com/v/Fmk4A_W4JrE&...
o So that the final code looks like:
<object width=”425&#8243; height=”344&#8243;><param name=”movie” value=”https://www.youtube.com/v/Fmk4A_W4JrE&... src=”https://www.youtube.com/v/Fmk4A_W4JrE&... type=”application/x-shockwave-flash” width=”425&#8243; height=”344&#8243;></embed></object>

I hope this helps.

I do not understand what to do. I have my youtube video on my introduction page. You want me to add an html widgent under that. Then you want me to paste my code into the html editor. One, is the html editor the white box that comes up to put a code in? Two, what is my code? Is it the code you gave me up above? THen you want me to edit my code. So, you want me to then delete the code I pasted and add the final code? Is that right? If so, I cannot figure out why the video is not playing. Also, what is the code to make the display menu disappear on my introduction. My style is midnight.

Hello Michael,

I hope to clear up the confusion. You would need to remove the YouTube video on your introduction page and simply add the HTML code to an HTML Widget. The forum appears to be messing the code up a bit that Jeremy put on above. So, here's the code again:

<object width=”425′′ height=”344′′><param name=”movie” value=”http://www.youtube.com/v/Fmk4A_W4JrE&hl=en“></param><embed src=”http://www.youtube.com/v/Fmk4A_W4JrE&hl=en” type=”application/x-shockwave-flash” width=”425′′ height=”344′′></embed></object>

Replace the code: http://www.youtube.com/v/Fmk4A_W4JrE&hl=en
With: http://www.youtube.com/v/Fmk4A_W4JrE&autoplay=1

So that the final code looks like:

<!--<object width=”425′′ height=”344′′><param name=”movie” value=”http://www.youtube.com/v/Fmk4A_W4JrE&autoplay=1“></param><embed src=”http://www.youtube.com/v/Fmk4A_W4JrE&autoplay=1” type=”application/x-shockwave-flash” width=”425′′ height=”344′′></embed></object>-->

* Please don't include the <!-- and -->.

As for the menu to disappear, please add this code to your HTML Widget on the page you wish to accomplish this:

<style type="text/css">
#menu {
display:none;
}
</style>

Please let us know if you have any trouble with this.

O.k. Thank you. I have decided to let the viewer decide if they want to watch the video or not. The other code for the default menu worked perfectly. Now for the final part of my question. If they do watch the video, once it is finished, I want it to go to the home page immediatly(without the viewer having to click the skip intro button). How do I make that happen? Thanks!

I have tried the link, but either I do not understand it or it does not work on yola. Every time I try to put the html code into my website, something pops up and tells me "oops! An error has occured when you pasted javascript code. please check your code again." Then, on my webpage it says "this video requires javascript and flash". What am I doing wrong?

Hello Michael,

It sounds like you may need to update your Flash and Java. I also suggest making sure your Javascript is enabled. Please try doing this and see if makes any difference for you.
