you wasn't kidding, that was long... didn't feel like reading it all!

Anyways, you can do nearly any kind of site with Yola, but because yola is an html language only sitebuilder, you're restricted and can't offer certain features PhP and MySql can offer for example. However, from what I can tell, you just want a business directory (a list of businesses) which is completely possible with Yola. But I'm not going to go into detail with the process cause I'm kinda busy. Is there any one thing you don't understand with yola? Something specific? All you have to do is figure a hierarchy...

  • Menu Page One
  • Menu Page Two

    • Category One
    • Category Two

      • Category A

      and then you have to do the work to create those pages... look at other directories to get some ideas, try to make it fresh and different so you'll actually obtain visitors! Until I have more time, that's all I can say for now!

      Thanks guys for getting back with me, and I promise I’ll try and keep it short this time  Before I get into all the yada yada basically I would like my webmall to look and function similar to this one: this is the directory index page link
      http://www.largeinternational.com/pmd...

      And this is the main site link: http://www.largeinternational.com/pmd...

      Looking at this site will explain a lot of what I'm trying to say below.

      What I'm trying to do is to have an internet mall where local business can have their own web store on that mall. Before I get into the tabs below, the features I want to provide customers are:

      INSTANT MESSENGER / GOOGLE MAP / CUSTOMER REVIEWS SECTION / PRODUCT & SERVICES ITEMS
      DOCUMENTS {PDF FILES} IMAGES / THUMBNAILS
      ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE PAGE WILL SHOW RECENT LISTING OF NEW SIGN UPS. BELOW THAT WOULD BE POPULAR CATEGORIES. ON THE RIGHT SIDE WOULD BE MORE POPULAR LISTING WITH A FEATURED PRODUCTS LISTING UNDER THAT

      Basically I would like to have:
      1. customers to sign up for membership with a user name a password
      2. A submit listing page with info that looks like this form:
      Options
      Home

      My Account
      Account Details

      Listings
      Add Listing

      Directory Index

      Username: *

      Email: *

      Password: *

      Password Repeat: *

      First Name

      Last Name

      Organization

      Address Line 1

      Address Line 2

      City

      State

      Country

      Zip

      Phone

      Fax

      Security Code: *

      3. When they click directory index I would like the page that shows up to have a search box where they can type in a business name or category, next to that box a drop down menu where they can select a category if they want to search like that.
      A search box below that with city, state and another box for the zip to narrow the search. And lastly for the search below that, to have the categories links broke down like the following if they choose to search that way:

      * M.E.R.G.E. Directory (55) * LARGE Television Network (1)

      * Accounting & Bookkeeping (3) * Actor & Actress (5)

      * Artist - Music - Band (2) * Artist - Painting - Glass Work (11)

      * Artist Management (6) * Authors (34)

      * Automotive- Dealers- Sales- Services - Accessories - Rental (20)

      Hi there Eric,

      Donald is right, PHP cannot be added to your website through the Sitebuilder.

      If you did want to create a Business directory with Yola you would have to do it manually.
      If you could tell us what you wanted to do with your directory we could be able to assist you in creating it.

      To be nice to your customers, I would tell them, "please allow up to 24 hours for your listing to post, this allows us to reduce spam to make your visit a more enjoyable one". - this is for having to do it manually!
