Yes Peter,

You can do this with some HTML in the heading place. You can add some text to be included if you wish.

If the image is hosted externally then you can use this general code substituting the web address and the folder and imagename.type
<img src="http://website.com/folder/image-name.xxx">
or
if the image is held in your file manager then you can use this very simple code
<img src="resources/image-name.xxx">

You place the HTML in the heading facility:
If you mouse-over the heading area while in the sitebuilder, the Edit heading box will appear. Click on that and then the facility opens. Paste your HTML in the first box where you normaly type your heading text.

for example rather than "click to Give" you would literally paste:
<img src="resources/image-name.jpg"> where as mentioned image-name is your own image and the jpg is the file type of the image. resources is a shortcut for the File Manager location.

If you want further help please ask.

can you tell me the style that you are using. I want to see the native layout for the banner area. It may already be divided into 2 sections and would need some CSS to over-ride this I think.

Or your published domain would help even more I think.

Peter,

This code will remove the divided banner-header section and replace it with a banner image extending the width and height of the space :

It can be placed as a CSS over-ride if you have silver or as inline CSS if you are working with a Bronze or Free account? (If you need help with inline CSS let me know as there are a couple more lines of code needed for inline CSS

div#sys_banner {
background: url("resources/banner-image.jpg") no-repeat scroll left top transparent;
height: 195px;
width: 900px;
}

This should still allow you to add some text or an icon/logo where the heading text normally occurs. happy to keep working with you if needed.

Where did you place that code? In the heading facility?

Can you drag an HTML widget into the highest available position on your page and then paste the code I gave you into that HTML widget.

Remove the code from the heading area.

The problem is that this is a split banner design so the first thing you want to do is to remove the divider and paste a banner image in the whole area?

No, not quite.
You have to add this as inline CSS not as standard CSS because you don't have Yola Silver. Only Silver allows you to use CSS over-rides. The difference is that for Free and Bronze accounts we over come this by adding it a slightly different way. I know it's a lot to understand but we will get there.

Please remove that code.
Now add this code instead to the HTML widget:

<style="text/css">
div#sys_banner {
background: url("resources/banner-image.jpg") no-repeat scroll left top transparent;
height: 195px;
width: 900px;
}
</style>

Can you add this as a replacement:
<style="css/text">
div#sys_banner
{
background: none repeat scroll 0 0 transparent;
}
div.ys-banner-wrap td.heading
{
background: none repeat scroll 0 0 transparent;
border-right: 1px solid #333333;
width: 100%;
}
</style>

You should not see any text appearing on your page.

This is what it looks like for me:

We should only need to add a banner image and your logo to a relevant place and I think it should be OK. Can you give me the name and address of your banner image? I'll add the image address into the code.

Were you asking about this approximately 2 months ago on another thread?
My advice then was to pick another style. It's much easier than trying to manipulate a split header/banner. There are a number of styles that are very, very similar to this one and I think it will make the job easier for you.

There are many styles similar to this one, which don't have a split banner. Take your time and go through them both free and Premium options.

I just visited your site it looks fine to me, if you didn't save your changes you can refresh the page and click NO when it asks you. This will bring it back. unless you were messing with the css. then try changing your sytle/and reload your orinanal style.

May work...

Hi Peter,

I have spent 6 hours with you on this. You asked for instructions and I gave them to you. I demonstrated that it worked. I don't work for Yola it's all volunteered time as is Franks. That's something that we are happy to offer. If Frank comes up with a better solution then that is what this forum is for. If you are getting frustrated then take some deep breaths and know that we will stay with you. It may not be at your same time of availability because we are all on different time zones and there are other things we do.

At first I thought you had some experience with coding so I gave you all the ways to do this. It didn't work for you and we can fix this. It just takes patience. I then suggested that you use a different Style to make it easy for yourself and I still think this is the way to go. You just have to go one step at a time. OK?

Peter,

I am also offering to setup your banner as you want. This would require me to login to your site and do it. If you wish me to do this then tell me the Style name you wish, and exact description of what you want. my email is gop@designscent.com

PS: You can't use copyrighted material for any part of your site including banner images without permission. It could have your site banned if you do.

Good work.

What I will do is to make a duplicate of your site and work on that. This will leave your original intact as a security blanket. If the new one fits your specs then you can publish to it. You don't have much content at this time so it will be easy to duplicate your content if you then wish to or duplicate the banner image if you wish on your original site.

I want this to work as you do for the investment that we have both put in. This will be the first of many disappointments in a period of learning site building and it really just takes heavy breathing and a cool heart to make it through. The first guideline is to duplicate your site or at least have test pages or a test site for developmental work. This then gives you that important safety margin to ride through errors and problems without it being devastating.
