John,

You could save the sidebar code in a html file and use a iframe to display it in the sidebar. Then you would change the single html file and every sidebar showing that frame would change

If you want more help ask.

Lee.

Hey John you this might work well for your type of site....http://tinychat.com/

It is free and you can have live video chat and or text chat....They give you an embed code and just paste the code in the html widget in site builder.

So John, Follow these step by step and it should work.

1. Open Notepad

2. Copy all the code for the sidebar into it. Including all the div's for the box its surrounded by and the css for the box.

3. go to: File > Save As > Change the 'save as type' to All Files > and save it sidebar.html

4. Upload that html file to Yola

5. on any page you want it displayed add this

<iframe src="http://theteenscene.info/resources/si..." width=200 height=600 frameborder="0">

Change the height and width to fit.

-->

the problems you may encounter are:

- the div for the sidebars box has no width value so it may expand across the page - easy fixed

- the css may not locate the box images - easy fixed.

Basically try the 5 steps and see how it goes - if you need any help along the way just ask.

Remember you will have to publish the site after uploading the html file.

its almost worked - you just need to get the css back in line and add a little bit of code to stop the use of the scroll bars, you could tidy up the actual sidebar code aswell.

If you bump this thread tomorrow - i will help you tidy it up.

That's the difficult way... lol, no offense... I have many things appearing on each of my pages such as my analytics, site search, headings with it's own unique code, etc... The easiest way to put something from one page to the next is the save as feature. Create a page with your sidebar on it, as well as anything else you want to appear on each page, name this page something like... "-0 template" or something and save that page as your new page. The "-0" is so it appears first in your list of pages for easy access.

Hi John,

I was off line yesterday.

Ok so first...

1. add this to the end of the code

2. make it 650px height.

3. Is the side bar code showing as 1 line in notepad? -- If it is go back and re copy it, this time click enter on the first line of the html editor (in Yola) and after the opening < style= > tag. That should allow you to copy it over in its corrected lines.

4. Change all the image URL's in the css to include the full address - http ://theteenscene.info/resources/sidebar/EXAMPLE.png

That should do it John, let me know how it goes.

nice 1 boomer - i dont want to make extra work for you but you might as well go the whole hog and add the css to a css file and link to it - that way the content and the style of the sidebar will be controlable site wide.

John youve got 2 options - run the center peice of the code through that javascript converter or just copy and paste the whole thing into notepad and save it as a html file, show it through a i frame.

Its up to you - as you want to edit it all the time i would choose the second option - it will be much easier to add to and change.

Now you have this wonderfully spaced code from Boomer.

It works great i just tested it. width 200 height 650.

Obviously im gonna have to delete the page.
But what about the sidebar,how am i going to get it to work.

Use the iframe method, It will be better for your application.
The code you need to paste into an HTML widget should look something like this..

<iframe src="http://www.theteenscene.info/resources/YourFile.html" frameborder="0" width="200" height="650"></iframe>

Hi Sanja this is what i am seeing,but the problem is on the sidebar.
there is supposed to be a star rating box that links into the rest of my rating system.
But this doesn't seem to display using the iframe method.
Thanks

Ok John this is what I've come up with so far. The side bar is linking to an html page here http://www.theteenscene.info/resource... where the star rating is supposed to be. I'm not entirely sure if this is the star rating code but I believe this is what it is on the banker page:

<script language="javascript" type="text/javascript" src="http://www.citricle.com/rateback/fetc...>
<div class="cr_rating_box">
<span class="cr_rating_count" id="cr_rating_count">loading</span>
<br />
<span class="cr_product_rating" id="cr_product_rating"></span>
<br />
<span class="cr_stars" id="cr_stars"></span>
<br />
<span class="cr_product_rating_message" id="cr_product_rating_message"></span>
</div>
<script language="javascript" type="text/javascript" >CRgetRating();</script>
<!-- Star rating end -->

I do not see that at all in the sidebar html page. It seems to be missing the .js src.
