Is Yola reconsidering new blogging options?

Almost all businesses now have a blog on their website. I'm a writer and a blog is essential for interaction.

I currently have to use the tumblr blog because its the only option there is. There are a few major things wrong with this:

1. Readers cannot comment on individual posts.

2. Readers cannot share posts.

3. Readers cannot follow the blog through my website.

The reason this is so important is because a reader is not going to scroll all the way down to the bottom of the page to add a comment about a blog post at the top of the page.

I cannot grow my audience if readers cannot share my content at all.

Most readers do not have a tumblr blog, that's why they are readers. So they will not follow through tumblr, and they certainly won't go over to tumblr to share content even if they did.

People want to follow a blog so that they know when something new has been posted. They will never come back to a website just to see if a blog post has been added. If they can follow the blog, through a decent RSS feed, then they will get an email.

Is Yola looking into bringing their blog back (not that I know what it looks like) or an alternative?

If not, then I will have to leave Yola in September when my year is up because as a writer, I will never grow my audience with the current layout. This is a shame, because I love everything else about it.

Thanks for your time,

Hi Rachel

Thank you for your detailed feedback on your needs with regard to blogging.

We do not have any plans this year to build a separate Yola blogging solution. We do strive to continually improve our widgets based on the needs of our users. We have recently improved the way Tumblr posts are cached to ensure that updates go live immediately. Other recent releases include a refactoring of our Custom Panel Widget and an updated text widget.

We have a number of other features planned for this year, and although these do not include a Yola blog we will take your comments into consideration when we next improve our Tumblr widget.

Thanks so much for replying Monique.

This is a shame because I will have to leave Yola in September. The blog is just not good enough for interaction and if I hadn't have paid, I would leave sooner.

Again, thanks for taking the time to reply.
