I would like to use the following script from Dynamic Drive to create a lightbox on my Yola site:

http://www.dynamicdrive.com/dynamicin...

I know that it says I have to upload a .js file and that this isn't currently possible with Yola. However, i wondered if there's a workaround. Could I edit the .js file and paste the script into an HTML box directly on the page?

to host the.zs file you will neeed to use another hsoing company, i dont know of any but just search free online file host & then link to it the same way you would with yola :)

hope this helps

Hi Anne - some java script files will paste into html widgets but not all, it depends how the code on the page calls the file.

I dont think that the lightbox scripts work in html widgets. You see the second line of 'step 1' -- 1 java file calls another, this is where the problem arries.

Alex is correct - there are hosting companys which host .js files and you would call the java files from the URL you are given from them.

There are a bunch of other nice image .js sripts which work with Yola.

I use 1 on my site http://hexham.info and there are others.

Hi Anne

I've posted a few slideshows on the Yola Code site (http://yolacodes.yolasite.com) if you're interested. I believe the one that Duke uses is the the Ultimate fade-in slideshow which is one of the ones on the Yola Code site. Feel free to pop over there and grab the code. Read the rules first on the Yola Code site so that you understand how to go about getting the code.

Hi everyone.

Thanks for your responses. I think the slideshows on the Yola Code site are great and may well use one of them. However, I'm still looking for a gallery script that will work in Yola. Just something that will display thumbnails and then enlarged images in a stylish way when the thumbnails are clicked.

Does anyone know if any of these gallery scripts work in Yola?

Thanks for your help.

Hi Anne,

The Flickr Lightbox widget allows you to quickly and easily create a slick photo gallery with thumbnails that link to larger images. Here's how it is done:

1. In the Content sidebar in Yola, open the Photo Gallery folder.
2. Drag and drop a Flickr Lightbox widget onto your page.
3. In the properties sidebar enter your Flickr account email address (usually a Yahoo! address) in the email address field.
4. In the "Photo Count" field, enter the number of images you want to display.
5. In the "Search" field, enter the tags of the photos you want to pull from Flickr (make sure you have added tags to your Flickr photos or you will not get the desired result).
6. Specify how many columns you want for your photo gallery.
7. Click on the Image Size drop down menu to select small square, thumbnail or medium sized images.
8. Finally, choose between a "modern" or "plain" style for your photo gallery images.
9. Click the "Apply" button to update your photo gallery.

Now save and preview your page. You will have a gallery of clickable images. In the top right hand corner of the large view of the images, click the "next" button to view the next image in the gallery. Click the "Close" button when you are finished browsing through your gallery.

Note: If there are privacy settings on your Flickr photos the search will not be successful. The photos need to be publicly available for it to work.

We have a great tutorial for you to view, please click here: Photo Galleries.

Kind Regards,
Emmy

Hi Emmy,

Thanks for that. I am actually using the Flickr gallery at the moment (http://www.annewitton.org.uk/photogra...) but I'm building a site for my Dad and he wants a bit more flexibility (and also doesn't want a Flickr account), so that's why I'm looking for another solution.

Thanks though!
