I had been meaning to post this for some time now and had a free couple of hours so thought I would share them all in one place. I hope you enjoy. Feel free to test my links page as pretty much all of the external links are done like this.
This tutorial is so that your external links don't take your visitor away from your site and onto some other. You got them and deserve to keep them. This bit of code is more cross browser friendly than some of the others out there.
For a link in a text widget follow the below steps to link off your site but keep your site open
1) Highlight the text you wish to turn into a link
2) Then select the link button in the toolbar
3) Place the URL you wish to link to in the (external) URL box
4) Click OK
5) Click in the text box once to free the previous highlight which has gone from blue before the link addition to grey after. Sometimes if you don't do this the text will stay grey so I just learned to take the extra step.
6) Highlight the text once more
7) Click the HTML button in the toolbar
8) Insert the " target="_blank" exactly where shown
" target="_blank"
+
h.......ttp://yourlink.com">YOUR LINK
=
h.......ttp://yourlink.com" target="_blank"">YOUR LINK
9) Click "OK"

For an images widget follow the below steps to link off your site but keep your site open
1) Drag an image widget onto your page
2) Select your image from your file manager and either double click or click on the image once and then click "OK"
3) Once it has appeared on your page if it does not have the red border click on it once to show the red border
4) Click the "Properties" tab in the "Content Sidebar"
5) Scroll down until you see the "Choose a link" button then click it
6) Combine your URL and the code below
" target="_blank"
+
h.......ttp://yourlink.com
=
h.......ttp://yourlink.com" target="_blank"
7) Highlight the entire new URL and paste it into the URL "External" box
8) Click "OK"
Of course take out the dots between the h & ttp but you get the idea and your viewer will never wind up being redirected off of your site.

For a text widget image follow the below steps to link off your site but keep your site open
1) Drag a text widget onto your page
2) Click once on the text widget (Keep in mind that if you don't click on the empty box at least once and hit enter you will have your image flush with the left side of the box and you will not be able to move your image to the right. I have always clicked the box and hit enter at least once so that I have room to click the blank space and hit enter a few times to position my image).
3) Click on the image button in the toolbar
4) Select your image from your file manager and either double click or click on the image once and then click "OK"
5) Once it has appeared on your page click once on your image and you will see a border with eight dots
6) Click on the links button in the toolbar
7) In the URL "External" box insert the URL you wish to link to
8) Click "OK"
9) Click once on you image
10) Click the HTML button in the tool bar

h....ttp://yoursite.synthasite.com">
12) Just add the following exactly where shown after the URL
" target="_blank"
+
h....ttp://yoursite.synthasite.com">

I have added dots to disable the URL in the post.

I hope that this helps keep at least one of your web pages open at all times and that your viewer stays where you want them... On your site.
Word of caution though... Don't alter the link of an affiliate network ad, banner or link unless they allow it. When you generate the codes in most affiliate networks you can select a box to have this code inserted automatically without the need to edit.
