Hi Brandon

You have two fantastic websites! I was very excited to see the way you have managed to put some of the cool SynthaSite features to very good use.

I also like the way your sites have a clear, narrow focus with an obvious appeal to a niche market. This is a great way to go about building effective websites. You are also clearly expressing a personal passion and it shows in the sites you have produced.

About the padding problem with your images. How did you add the images? We need to improve text wrapping so that this will be easier for our users. However, as a workaround I tend to use the two column layout widget to improve my layout:
1) I drop a text widget and resize the columns by dragging the green center axis to fit snugly with my image.
2) I drop the image in the one column and the text in the other.
3) I then set the margins for the text widget in the properties sidebar to get some padding between the text and the image.
4) I drop another text widget below the two column layout widget to continue adding text.

This solution is rather clumsy, and hopefully there will be a better way soon!

Good luck with your sites. Thank you for sharing them with us!

Best wishes
Monique

Hi Monique,

Thanks for checking out my new websites. You comments are very encouraging.

How did I add the images? I think I added them via the Synthasite editor, by clicking on the button there. But didn't there used to be an edit HTML button on the dashboard? I can't find it anymore. I seem to remember being able to go to the source HTML and adding the code to wrap the text around the picture.

I appreciate your tips to work around it.

Synthasite is awesome!

Hi All
Got my next site published http://heuningbergnaturereserve.synth... it is still in its infancy and I will be spending a lot of time on it before it is done (if that can ever be said of any site as it will need constant updating!). Some pages are still under construction but I am having fun working with html again, it gives a bit more control than just relying on the widget's formating. Got the old grey matter working to remember how all the code gets applied but I got my mouse hover code in and changed the A HREF link colour and put titles in for my images. Let me know what you think of the site so far - all comments are more than welcome.
Synthasite rocks!!!

Done quite a bit more work on the site and all but to two pages need to be done now. The two photo galleries will of course always be needing work as they get updated. http://heuningbergnaturereserve.synth...
Thanx :))

Done more work, added tables into the text widget to create lists. Happy with the end result, would have liked to centered the table but the command doesn't seem to register.Found out that IE also doesn't react to some of the html code as it should but Firefox is a winner! :))

I update regularly sometimes more than once a week depending on how often the data needs updating. Google search is quiet effective now whereas in the beginning I had no luck.So its all about links and updating, I have also got a few external links leading to my site which helps quite a bit.

Great comment, Boontjie! I get many questions from users who want to know how to promote their sites with the search engines. You guys are on the right track! Please continue to post these ideas!

The best way to make the search engines love you is to have a great site that you are passionate about. There is no "quick fix" but sustained efforts do pay off!

Thanks, I do want to change the design slightly using one of your other style templates, is this a good time to do that or are you working on new stuff at the moment which might be worth waiting for? I am looking for a different way to present my pictures to make it look a bit more professional like a slide show or similar, any ideas? Any other ideas from anyone how I can improve my website to make it look more professional, as this is my first time.

my website again is:www.italiacamping.co.uk

Any comments would be appreciated.

Hi Sylvia

You have done a great job with your first site! Thank you for posting the link. The features you ask about: the colour and position of the menu text, are determined by the style you select. We have a large selection of styles available. You can experiment by clicking the "change style" button in the top left corner of your screen. Click on a style you want to experiment with and see what effect it has on your site. If you don't like it you can always change it or revert to your current style. Some of our styles have a selection of colour palettes associated with them and some allow you to add your own banner image. Some styles have the menu down the side and some have it along the top. Styles with vertical navigation are usually the best if you have a large number of pages in the menu. Styles with horizontal navigation always support a limited number of pages before your menu starts looking incorrect or running into the body region of your page.

I hope you will experiment with our style options and find one that is just right for you. Let us know if you have any questions.

Hi everyone,

This was sooooo much fun. I've been looking for an ecommerce software for months now.. and stumbled across SynthaSite. It's not right for my store just yet... but what a FANTASTIC site builder. I spent all day yesterday playing with it. Didn't get a lick of work done, but enjoyed myself SO much!!! Thank you to the whole SynthaSite team.... what a great job you're doing!!!

Soooo....I've created a website for my Mom.... she's 88 years old!!! I was actually able to add a guestbook and I even created a form so people could write her a letter (only she asked if she could write them back.... and I don't know??? lolol....). You can add your photo to the guestbook and it's just totally cool!!!

When I left her this morning she was sitting at her computer looking at her guestbook with a grin as big as Texas (and that's one HUGE grin). I would love it if y'all would take a peek at her new website.... and if you have the time pleeeeze sign her guestbook and send her a letter. It would make her soooooo happy!!!

Thanks everyone!!!

Hey Shirley!

What a super website! Your mom's artwork is amazing!! I signed her guestbook and filled in the form. One suggestion: if you want to make it possible for her to reply to her letters, why don't you add a field to the form where people can fill in their email addresses if they want to?

I am glad you like SynthaSite. It always makes me smile when people say they couldn't get any work done because they were having too much fun building their site! That is the sort of experience we want everyone to have, so I am glad it worked out so well for you.

We hope to add a shopping cart widget and other ecommerce features soon, so hopefully when we are ready for you, you will come back and build your ecommerce site!

Well done!!!!

Y'all are awesome!!!! Right now my Mom is sitting at her computer GLUED to the screen... She's a little fuzzy on how everything works and it may take her a day or two to process all of this but the important thing is she's having fun. It's difficult to find new interests for her... and this is soooo fabulous!! I highly recommend something like this for everyone who has a senior in their family who uses a computer even a little bit. What a great new interest and bright spot in a seniors life!!!

Monique, you're absolutely right about including an email return on the "letter to grammy". Lordy.... now if I can just figure out how to do that.... AAAarrrrggghhhh..... Going to go work on that right now!!!

Can't wait to see what you come up with for ecommerce. Right now the only self-hosted options are software products that either cost thousands of dollars or else expect you to have a DEEP knowledge of CSS and HTML. I'm way too old to learn those new tricks... I can fiddle a tiny bit, but when I can't even figure out how to put my business name up at the top there's something wrong. Assuming that every online retailer is either a programmer or is willing to pay HUGE $$ to hire a web-designer is nuts!! (just my humble opinion)... A simple intuitive easy to use platform is just what we need!!! (and I wouldn't mind paying a reasonable price for it, either).

But I'm getting off the subject. Off to tackle that form thingie....

Soooo.... a HUGE Howdy and thank you to everyone from Texas!!! Can't believe some of y'all have already signed her guestbook. She's a little confused about how it all works, but the smile is starting to make her face hurt.....lol

Hi Shirley
To add an email address to the form:
1) Log in to Wufoo and click the "edit" option
2) Drag a single lined text box from the left into your form
3) Click on it and type "email address" in the field label in the space provided on the left
4) Save your form
5) Copy and repaste the form code
6) republish your site.

We don't have Armadillos in our part of the world but I would love to see my dog's faces if they every found one :-)

The armadillo's are bizarre little critters for true!! I think our dawgs might even have Armadillo dreams.....lol

Good Evening Everyone! I have been busy...busy revamping my website and would love it if you stopped in for a look. Opted for a more homey feel, plan to put in more pictures. As a last minute inspiration added the Shoppe, not sure where I am going to go with it, so for right now a few pages are under construction (take a peek at the candles page).

I do have a question...is there anyway to adjust the size of the links bar at the top of each page? Was unable to add the guest book because it dropped down under home and just did not look right. Let me know.

I went through all the entries and made sure to leave comments, if I missed anyone please let me know...I really love looking at other sites! I have bookmarked all so I can browse in from time to time.

Here is my url: www.klouda.us, make sure to leave a message in the guest book. Link is on the home page index on the left.

I love seeing all the new sites, and the developments to the old ones. There isn't much point to having a site that no one ever looks at, so I am really glad that all of you are taking advantage of this forum to promote and improve your sites!
