Hi Micky

Yes, it is possible to have an image link open in a new window by editing the HTML. Here are the steps:
1) Add an image using the text widget (drop a text widget and click "insert image" on the text editing toolbar)
2) Click on the image and then click "insert link" on the text editing toolbar
3) Create your link to your chosen URL as normal
4) Then click "HTML" - the last icon on the text editing toolbar
5) You will see the code that looks like this for your image link (using SynthaSite's website and one of my own images as an example):

<!--<a href="http://www.synthasite.com">&lt;img src="resources/images%5B2%5D.jpg"></a> -->

All you need to do is add in target="blank" as show below:

<!-- <a href="http://www.synthasite.com" target="blank"><img src="resources/images%5B2%5D.jpg"></a> -->

(NB: Delete the and the -- >. I only put that there to stop Get Satisfaction from trying to interpret the code)

Your image link will then open in a new tab or window, depending on what browser your visitor is using.

Please get back to me if you have any difficulty with this.

It would be nice to have the option to make a link open in a new tab/ page by just ticking a box.

This would be a nice and quick option. Unfortunately the only option currently is to use the post above to achieve this.

Hi Narrissa,

If you are using the image widget then I suggest that you change this to a text widget and insert your image with this. Click "open in new window" and check the outcome.

If it's still not working then view the HTML code by clicking on the HTML button in the toolbar and substitute the target="xxx" with target="_blank"

I have tried following the useful post above but I do not seem to be able to get it right. I can get my pic to act as a link but having no joy having the link open in a new window. It is important that the link opens in a new window as it is a sale page.

the link to the page in question is http://www.realworldoncanvas.com/city...

The image I want linking to a new page (different window) is the image that says "Help and F&Q" that is actually an image.

If you could advise I would be very grateful.

Sorry for being a dunce as I am sure your instructions are correct I just need it simplifying.

Thanks
Stewart

Try this Stewart,

<a href="http:// URL LINK" target="blank">
<img src="YOUR IMAGE URL"></a>

URL LINK is the link you would like to open.
YOUR IMAGE URL - your own image.

P.S. Just paste the code directly in a HTML widget.

Actually sorry to disappoint but having tried the link on another computer (at work) the image is not visible yet within Yola and through the preview it is.

Could somebody have a look and try and work out the problem - the image is showing as a cross on my screen. Here is the URL http://www.realworldoncanvas.com/land...

The image is of text that reads Help & FAQ - the link works but the image is not present.

Can anybody advise?
Thanks
Stewart

Hi Stewart

Are you sure you have the correct image path? When I try to access your image, it does not seem to exist. Perhaps you can double check your image file name and the path as well.

Hi Stewart - the path in the HTML is:
resources/site_images/info.jpg
It should be:
resources/Site_images/Info.Jpg

The path has to be identical to the file name in terms of upper and lower case.

I hope that helps!
