I posted this a month ago but then one of my team did the temporary fix and so you guys couldn't see the problem, now we're getting complaints again that the file doesn't download even though for me it does perfectly fine. It takes you to the blank page with no download happening according to them.

On our site I have links to what are application forms uploaded to the file manager. They are basic text links and yet after a number of times updating other things these links stop working entirely though they are not touched nor are the pages they are on. This has been happening for at least one year (well before I added any custom css) and we have finally gotten fed up of updating them manually every few publishes, please can you tell me the permanent solution to this problem!

Here is one of the pages it happens on http://www.ywamlondonnottinghill.com/...

Hello Taboo,

I'm sorry that this has been so frustrating and I believe I know what the problem is and can help. It appears that this is a problem with the MS Office file extensions (xlsx, pptx, docx) in Internet Explorer. I was able to download your file just fine and open it on my computer and I am using Firefox, here is a screen shot of what I see when I open one of your files on my system.

To remedy this you will need to save your file as a .xls, .doc, .ppt file; then you will be able to download your document and have them open correctly on your site.

Please let me know if you have any trouble with this.

Kind Regards,
Emmy

Hey Emmy,

Thank you for a speedy reply, I will edit the files to be the appropriate types tomorrow however I do believe we had bog standard .doc before and the same issue - last year when this originated the files were created on a PC.

Hopefully though I'm wrong and will give the benefit of the doubt!
