I would like to make a little survey to find out the loading speed of my homepage.Everybody have a different internet connection speed,so if you will decide to comment your experience, writing down your connection speed would be a great help making decisions. Its all about the flas on the homepage. The goal is to find out - do I need to remake flash images.

Hi Laurynas,

Your site does take a few seconds to load completely for me, using quite a good DSL connection. There good be many reasons for that though.

I did also notice that the element that took the longest to load was the banner you have directly below your navigation menu.

You might want to also run your domain through this simple online test, there are many other sites like this that you can Google and test your site on- http://www.iwebtool.com/speed_test.

Hope this helps!

Bit of a delay with the purple flash stuff but not unusually so considering it's flash. I have an average dsl connection.

Thanks to both of you.Would be great to hear from someone with slower than 2Mbps connection as well.
I had some bad experience myself.A year ago my connection was 1Mbps and sometimes I had to wait longer than 5 seconds to open the sites that had flash. So not everytime I was waiting for it.

Most of the page--more than enough to satisfy a new visitor--was up in 9 seconds. The final loading took another 3 seconds. Very good from here! Nice job, Laurynas.

I'm using DSL around 15 Mb download speed right now.

A lot more people still have dial up than you might think. You should still keep that in mind when designing a website. And hard as it is to believe some people are still using Explorer 6. It's not so easy to keep updating especially in this economy.

I didn`t realise that its still in use.But I dont think Diane, that economy has eny relation to this. a Dialup is more expencive to provide than other types of connection in a most european countries.Well,I am not aware abuot other continents.I am not sure, but I think in Lithuania (my native country) they allready stoped it. In Ireland broadband is much cheaper to get, than to use dialup aswell. Correct me if I am wrong.

I live in France and have contacted all isps and even the local mayor, only to be told that i will get broadband by the end of the year.

However I have been told this for 5 years running. and the only opption is satelite but talking to other people this option is very expensive and unreliable.

I have read reports that france is way ahead in internet connections, but that is not true when you look at the full picture.

Sorry to go on but I just wish some people would think of dial up users when making websites, I leave a site after 2 minutes if I dont see anything.

Just trying to help.

This is a good reminder to everyone to consider the varying speeds of internet connection when building your site. Optimize your images and be careful not to put too much content on one page!

The other thing to remember when using flash is that your site may be visited by someone with a device that doesn't support flash (a number of mobile devices fall into this category)

Thanks for starting this thread to raise awareness of the different factors affecting site load time.

Hello there Laurynas,
A lot of mobile phones have web browsers. Many use Opera or similar browsers. From the iPhone to most newer Nokia or Motorola phones.

As far as I know PSP supports flash - but you need the Sony PSP ROM update.

I hope this helps.
