I really like your banner and grey background, I feel it conveys an airy feeling which I assume is your intent. My biggest advice is to add some content inline with that. Beyond your look, there's a lot of ads and not much text detailing what your website is about. Give a brief synopsis of the history of aviation or tell more about what visitors can expect to learn if they dig into the other pages of your website. This will also help your performance in search engines. Also, I suggest altering your navigation menu to be sure it is contained to one line. You can do this by adjusting the names of your pages or by using subpages.

Hey Laura, thanks for the advice there is 5 pages of aviation history which i wish to expand into a more detailed case-study for each however, my main problem is actually figuring out a way to navigate the site as there is so much info and so much more to come :S, i've been thinking of adding a glossary sort page to list all links on the site. the front page needs altering dramatically as there is not enough insight into the site (like you said) but im currently working on three other websites for companies in my local area so time is somewhat scarce at the moment im also a partner in 2 other businesses "why isnt there more time in the day" :)

I love to hear what others think about my site as they say "two heads are better than one" :)
