Please, I need help to verify that the email server certificate is valid. Mac mail is giving me an error message saying that it is invalid. When I look it up under the 'view certificate', it reads as geo trust ssl CA. Mac mail recommends verifying the certificate as it could be a mail server pretending to be mail.expeditionsforlife.com Can anyone help me with this.
Thank you,
Derek

Hi Derek,

When are you seeing this message with regards to the certificate? For Authentication, you need to select "Password"

To add your mail to an external client you can follow our tutorial

I hope this helps.

Hi Jeremy,

I am seeing this message after I choose to take the account online. The account was working before. Nothing was changed before this problem started occuring. The error message is this:

>Mail can't verify the identity of "mail.expeditionsforlife.com".

The certificate for this server is invalid. You might be connecting to a server that is pretending to be "mail.expeditionsforlife.com" which could put your confidential information at risk. Do you want to connect to the server anyway?<

Then I select: >view certificate geotrust SSL CA
--> *.b.hostedmail.com

*This certificate is not valid (host name mismatch)
--------------------------------------------
I hope this information is helpful in figuring out this problem. I do not want to simply connect anyways relying on blind faith.

Thanks,
Derek

Hello Derek

I found this thread https://discussions.apple.com/thread/... on the Apple site.

They seemed to be able to change the server port and that solved the problem.

I hope this helps.

Hi Jeremy,

I tried what was suggested here and it had no affect. Do you know how the ssl certificate works for the mail server at yola? I looked up geotrust.com and I'm not sure how or if their services apply to the Yola mail server. Is it possible to do more investigation from your end?

Thanks.
Derek

Hi Derek,

What happens is because your domain is linked to your email and your email is hosted by Tucows (who does it for us) you are seeing this error.

Please be assured it is ok and you can click "connect" and your email will be set up.

I hope this helps. If you need any further assistance, please let me know.

I tried the link https://discussions.apple.com/thread/..., from Jeremy and after logging in with Apple, got the message:

"Unauthorized

It appears you're not allowed to view what you requested. You might contact your administrator if you think this is a mistake."

How can I view this?

Hello Lesli

I can view the page fine. I'm afraid that I'm not sure why this happens on your end. You may want to contact Apple Support on this problem.
