mailing list?

I want to create a mailing list where people can sign up if they want updates about my site. I know that Wufoo has a mailing list form which looks great. However, I don't think I can send a mass e-mail to those who have signed up. Does anyone know of any site that can both create a mailing list and send bulk e-mails to those who signed up?

Hi littleus,

Sounds as if you're really moving ahead with your site.

I wondered if you have considered an RSS feed. This pretty well takes it out of your hands and updates are simply sent out on the feed.

Hey Peter

My site's coming along... not quite there yet! I'm definitely making some headway though.

I thought RSS feed is just for blogs and only for those who have a website of their own? Is there any control over how often the updates notifications can be sent out? I don't want to annoy people every time I have new post.

Hi littleus,
When someone subscribes to your blog they are saying that they want to be informed when you create a new post. I don't think you should worry about annoying people; and posting new posts often is a great thing for search engine optimization!

I overlooked your question re RSS only for those with a website. You can subscribe to an RSS without having a website. Probably the easiest way is if you have a google account. You can subscribe to their reader and put it on your iGoogle.

Hi L,

Yes it's for blogs. You can use a blog for announcements though. The general feeling is if that if you have a new post that you notify your readers.
If you're making admin changes to your site, no announcement or update goes out your feed unless you blog it.

My feeling is that if I subscribe to a blog, I'm interested. I would scan the feed and then choose to read in depth or otherwise.

Mailing lists are hard work. Appreciated yes by the same people who would probably scan your RSS. :)

Hi littleus,

I'm sorry I only noticed this thread now :)

Wufoo have integrated with MailChimp, a mailing list service and perhaps you would like to read more on their site: http://www.mailchimp.com/blog/wufoo-f.... They have all the steps on how to activate it on your Wufoo account.

Hope that helps!
