making my podcast downloadable

We've recorded our first podcast. I've uploaded the mp3 file to our file gallery, then added a picture (button with "download" on it) and linked the file to the picture. When I click on the download button, the site redirects to a new page and plays the mp3 file.
What I want is for the mp3 file to download to my (and users) PCs.
Site is www.scribatious.biz
How do I solve this?
Thanks for your help
Cath

Hi,

As far as i know, a direct click will direct to the mp3 playing. However, add text either below or above the download icon saying "right click and 'save as; ... Should work ! I just downloaded it ! :)

Looks like that's going to work. But a bit complicated - people are going to save the picture instead of the link sometimes. Don't really want to add text (looks amateur).
Is there any way to trigger the download with a nice simple left click??

Hi,

Most mp3 download sites works the same way so if people are going to be downloading it ... i personally think they would know exactly what to do with less than 1% chance of accidentally downloading the image ;) (almost instinct). however, i am sure there is another way around this so let me double check on that and get back to you.

Hi Cath,

I have taken a peek at your site and it appears you have found an alternative method for allowing downloads of your podcast. Please let us know if you'd like us to look into this further with you. Thanks!

Hey Brianna
See my comment to Rynaldo above - yep, I'd really like visitors to be able to get the download with a simple left click on the button. I'm concerned that even with some instructions people will right click and end up saving the picture not the link. Also it's going to be irritating if people left click on a button marked "download" and end up listening to the cast instead (OK I know I can change the button to "listen" but generally our audience prefer to download and listen to the cast when it suits them, not right away)
Any ideas?

Thanks for your help

Cath

Hi,

Okay :) Do this .... Remove the file and place it in a zip instead. The re-upload the file ! This way the user doesn't have to right click and 'save-as' ! Just a click and you are set ! Try this and let me know ;)
