Menu Tabs Blend Together

I have a problem where the 'Home' tab always blends with whatever page I list next to it. For example 'Home' and 'Contact Us' becomes 'HomeContact Us' and only takes you to the index page.

I have got around it by generating a blank page which I list next to Index (home) page. It's annoying me!

Hello Ian

To assist you further I will need your Yola login e-mail address or the URL of your Yola website. Can you please post this here for me to check what's going on?

Hi Ian,

There's something wrong with your home page navigation title and I can't quite work it out. Need access to your site builder to do this. I think that Stephan will be able to pick this up quickly as Yola support have access to your sitebuilder and can have a look specifically at the code involved.

From my perspective I am seeing some melding of your Google verification and your home tab but have no idea how it's happening.

Hello Ian

When I navigate to your website http://www.ianbrownsportstherapy.co.uk/, I see this (detail):

I can't see any menu links that blend together. But I could imagine that you don't want the home link be labelled "home8" and the "contact-us page" label without the dash?

You can change this in your Page Manager (Page > Page Manager). Click on "Edit" to change the label text, and save the changes.

Let me know if this is not the answer to your problem.

This is the code on the Home nav position: Can you see it on his site Stephan. ? Google verification meta?

<div id="menu" class="sys_navigation">
<ul>
<li class="selected first">
<a href="./" title="Home">
Home
<meta name="google-site-verification" content="UUKDp-ZylAQXYE5Hsd3oLejVXcE8v</a></li><li><a href=" 8.php"="" title="8"/>
8
</a>
</li>

Thank you for pointing this out, Gop.

Ian, I have checked your Page Properties for your home page, and this is where I found the Google code that Gop has posted above. It has been added to the "Page Heading" field in the Page Properties dialogue box (Page > Page Properties). This is unfortunately not the right spot to add code.

Did you maybe mean to add Google Webmaster verification code to your Yola website? If so, you must do this under the Site Settings (Site > Site Settings > Google Webmaster).

I'm not sure if this will solve the problem, but please remove this Google code from your Page Heading field and just type the page heading there, no code.

Then go through the steps of our Google Webmaster tutorial again to add the Google Webmaster code in the correct place.

If that doesn't solve the problem, please come back to us. Or just keep us updated anyway on this thread. Thanks!

Hi Guys

Whichever page that I list under the Home page in 'page manager' becomes blended with Home in the navigation menu. Thus Home8 wasn't a typing error but was the Home page blending with a blank page that I named as 8 to get around the problem. If I didn't do this and had my Back Pain page next to Home it would appear as HomeBack Pain and selecting it would only take you to the Home page.

In my Edit Website facility, I removed the verification codes as advised but it didn't resolve the problem; these remain as unpublished changes.

However, I did remove the page named 8 but had to create another blank page named '1'. Thus you now see Home1 in menu bar!

This problem started when I went from a basic 2 page site, Home and Contact us, to a multi-page site using a different design having upgraded to Yola Silver.

Any more ideas? Thanks Ian

Hello Ian

Good news: My team mate Sanja was able to sort out the problem. We can see your navigation normally now, nothing blending together, but separated as it should be. Please republish and let us know if you should still see the menu links blend together.
