Hello June,

Are you wondering about how to verify your site with Google Webmaster? There is a field in the Properties area labeled "Google Webmaster Code", here is a screen shot, this is where you put the Google Webmaster code:

Can you let us know if this doesn't help.

Right, I understand that is where it goes. I got sent a code not long ago with the Meta_tag thingy... I just put it there. Now what happens? What do I do? Does this help with the of making the site a secure site? At least in the eyes of Norton.
Heres my site. Its rescue.

Hello there June,

No, Google Webmaster will not help with making your site secure - it helps with SEO and Indexing of your site.

Once you have put in the code you need to update your site and then verify your site in Google Webmaster.

For detailed, step-by-step, instructions on how to verify your site with Google Webmaster and submit a sitemap, please see our Google Webmaster Tutorial . Please use our instructions and not Google's. Google's are written on the assumption that you are coding the website from scratch. Our instructions are written to work specifically with Yola.

I hope this helps.

Hi there June,

I was just re-reading your original question...

Unfortunately it is not possible to upload a file to the root directory of your site and Norton requires you to do this in order to verify ownership.

However, it does seem like they offer an alternative that will work with Yola. See this post from their Community: Help with Norton Safe Verification .

From this post it seems that you need to send them a support request explaining that you are unable to upload a file to your root directory, and that you need to use the metatag verification method instead.

They then suggest adding it as a keyword metatag. You can do this via the Properties sidebar in the Yola Sitebuilder by pasting it in the designated "keyword" box.

I am sorry we don't have a simpler solution, but I hope this helps you achieve the desired result.

I hope this answers your original question.

In the message Nortan sent me they had a meta tag. and told me this,

Copy the following meta tag and paste it into your Web site's home page. It should go in the < head > section, before the first < body > section.

Do I put that in the properties section or in the actual body, before and text, html, and anything else. I have the banner, which I can not put above that.

Thank you for the other input, I have added info into those areas.

Hi Jane - the keyword section that Jeremy describes is in the Head section of your site. Adding the code to the main part of your page in the Sitebuilder is the Body section.

Oh so its the same thing. I don't need to add it as html code into the body of my home page. Just to verify.. This is all a learning experience for me. So now I wait for Nortan to approve my site? Is that what happens?

Hi Jane - unfortunately I'm not sure how it works on the Norton side as I'm not familiar with their system. It may be worth clicking on the link that Jeremy's provided to see what they require you to do.
