Hi windy

Which Google service do you want to verify your site with? Let me know and I might be able to suggest an alternative.

Unfortunately right now you don't have access to your metatags, but we are working on making this possible in future.

Has this been fixed yet? I'd like to add the new Canonical Link Element to my meta tag area, ie.

steve - this thread is a year old - i would suggest starting a new 1.
The topic you are asking about is not really connected to this.

Hi whenever i google my key words my site never appears. whenever i google my name my site never appears. i don't understand what i've done wrong unless it is the meta-tags that are wrong and if i don't have access to those then i can't put it right. any suggestions?

fanta, you can't add a metatag yet, like monique said they're working on it, so therefore you are putting it in right it just doesn't work. My suggestion is, wait until synthasite makes metatags able to be put on your site.

Hi fantasweets

When did you publish your site? It can take up to three months for Google to index your site. I doubt the problem you refer to has anything to do with your metatags. One thing you can do is submit your site to Google. Here's how:

To submit your site for inclusion in Google's index of sites, just go to http://www.google.com/addurl/ .

All you have to do there is type in your full URL and hit the "Add URL" button.

Then you just wait for Google's crawler to get to your site, which they do on a continuous basis, but they'd don't guarantee when it will happen.

The other thing you can do is to add keywords to each of your pages by typing them into the "Description" field in the properties sidebar for each page. When you are done, republish your site.

The most important thing you can do to increase your ranking with the search engines is to get other sites to link to you. So email related sites with content related to yours and ask them to link to you. It also helps to have a link page with links to other relevant sites.

I hope this helps.

Best wishes
Monique

hi Monique

I first published my site about a week ago. I've updated it daily since then and have also done as you suggested in adding my key words to my description on each page. I have also asked Google to look at my site (they said they last visited on 11 May) but they want me to verify my site by putting a html file OR meta tag into the first header section. I've had a go but it didn't work properly - can you tell me how to do this?

Many thanks,
Gill

Hi Gill

Which Google service are you using that requires you to add an HTML file or meta tag? We are aware of this problem and we are working on an extra field in the properties sidebar that will allow you to add a meta tag so that you can verify your site.

In the meantime I suggest Google Analytics, as they allow you to add the verification code anywhere on your page, and you can do this by pasting the code into the HTML widget. Drop an HTML widget at the bottom of each page you want to track, paste the code over the default tags in the editor and when you are done, republish your site. Your site will be verified with Google Analytics and you can log in to your Analytics account to get all sorts of great information about the traffic to your site.

Please bear with us while we add the ability to insert meta tags. This feature is coming soon!

Cheers
Monique

Ive had the same problem fanta. I think the reason im having this problem is because i couldnt change my domain name properly and had to use masked forwarding instead. I believe google dosnt like any kind of forwarding and now i cant verify my site with them.

Hi Monique it was Googles Webmaster Tools that wanted to verify the site and asked me to add the meta tag or HTML file in the header. I've added myself to Google Analytics but would still like to use Webmaster Tool as soon as you're able to sort the meta tag issue.
Hi cmd - i'm afraid i'm too new to this to know what masked forwarding is! however i do think that once Monique and Co have sorted out the meta tag access to our websites for us we should be able to verify our sites to google. I just hope it won't take too long! all that lost business...........!!

quite agree cmd - for a free website i'm well proud of mine - look fantastic and the peope i've shown it to thinks its brilliant but i want customers to see it by their own and at the moment when you google fantasweets you only get my free ads - the website doesn't appear at all. so the only access i have to the website for my customers is through the free ad links - kinda defeats the object of a website right?!

yes same here. those free ads time some time to fill in to, ive lost count of the hours wasted filling them in. I got indexed on google in 2 weeks but ive read that it can take upto 3 months for this. just be patient. not that its gonna get you more hits but its a start

as long as they work its not time wasted tho! i've had a "visit" from google, its just it was in the early days before i'd really developed my site, so the information google have on me is quite limited! never mind, as you say just be patient! but the kind of person i am makes me want to "fix" it now!

Hi Guys
Hopefully the ability to verify your site with Google Webmaster will be available in a few weeks.

If you are concerned about getting more hits on your site, the most important thing you can do is to get more inbound links to your site - other sites that link to you. Here is the advice Google gives on the subject: http://www.google.com/support/webmast...

Please keep in mind that generating traffic is a process that requires a long term commitment on your part. You have already made huge progress by creating great looking websites. You have even managed to get your sites indexed. Adding meta tags can be useful, but nothing is as important to your online success as links from quality referring sites. This is something you can work on while we work on the meta tag issue and I assure you that it will be worth the effort!

Greetings
Monique

SynthaSite has paid attention to this thread!

I have some definite news on the meta tag issue for everyone who is interested. This has been scheduled for our current release cycle which is due to go live on or around the 9th of June. After this date you will be able to verify your site with Google Webmaster.

We do not provide a domain management service at this time. Your registrar should provide this for you. However, if they don't, you should be able to use a free service like zoneedit: http://www.zonedit.com/. You should be able to point your site to your own domain using either a CNAME or an A-Record (instructions provided in the publishing dialogue) If you can't set this up please email support@synthasite.com and I will get someone to take a look at your problem for you.

We haven't released the feature yet. We are busy with some other major design work and we need to get this done and then roll out all the new features at the same time. So there is going to be a bit of a delay, but we believe the wait will be well worth it in the end.
