Help with meta tags and keywords. Are they the same? If not, please explain the difference and how to add each one..Also how to maximize your searchable capabilities on Google...

I did the keywords on each page. I put a comma in between each word.

Any tips on how to maximize your searchable capabilities on google?

Thanks

Meta tags may be used for a wide variety of metadata--data that describes other data--but many site promoters focus primarily on the description tag and the keywords tag. Some search engines use the description tag as the first choice for a search engine listing, using alternate methods if the tag is missing. Some search engines may also use the keywords tag to reinforce the main topics of the page. Not all search engine use meta tags, and the other ones may not pay much attention to the contents.

Meta tags that are hidden from the visible page, such as the keywords tag, have been subject to much abuse over the years. As a search rating factor gets abused, the natural reaction for the search engines is to de-emphasize the offending factor. This seems to be the case with meta tags, as search engines increasingly seek "reputation" factors less directly controlled by the web site owner.

Okay thanks for the reply!

Now in the description tag, what should i put? words with commas in between?? phrases??

On each page of my site, I filled the keyword box with the same list of words on each page. I made a very longgg list of words and phrases with commas in between each of them.

What will google search by?

I feel so stuck right now its not even funny...

Like when I go to google and type swapchips4cash in the search box, my site comes up. But when I search for it any other way, it doesn't come up.

If possible, can you please give me specific instructions on what to do. Ive looked hard on what to do, but to no prevail.

my site is http://swapchips4cash.synthasite.com

I need help with these tags.

I appreciate your response, but still i am massively confused..

HA :)

Best,

Jason
well for the keywords i suggest you go to
https://adwords.google.com/select/Key...

and pick website content and type your url in it and see if this helps ya

this will give you more info on the keyword and if you pick the best ones on there and add them should improve the site listing on search engines

i believe one of those was how to make money add that one to the keyword and other real good ones and that should help

Hi jasons

I posted the following in another thread but some of it applies to your question...
.
.
.
.
.

2 1/2 months live and I think Google must like me... Now if the market and economy would get better I could see some action. As it is the over $5000 indulgences have hit the emergency brake so to speak. I have been in touch with many other playhouse builders and all of them are at a standstill. Mind you when I Google to find my site I never Google my own site name or URL as they are and should always be at or near the top. I only Google key words or phrases to get a real world test of what others would search for.

The one I am most happy about is the first one ;))))))))))))))) Yes that number is real.......

"play homes"
Results 1 - 10 of about 139,000,000 for play homes... Ninth on the first page.

"custom playhome"
Results 1 - 10 of about 68,900 for custom playhome... third on the first page

"custom playhomes"
Results 1 - 10 of about 49,300 for custom playhomes... third on the first page

"playhomes"
Results 31 - 40 of about 85,700 for playhomes... First on the forth page

Slowly moving up the list for "custom playhouses"
Results 71 - 80 of about 1,320,000 for custom playhouses... Tenth of the 8th page but considering I was on page 35 two weeks ago I think that this is a huge improvement. Too many sites with the word custom and too many with playhouse in them.

Respectable numbers I think... Too bad about the economy though...

Still gotta work on including some other key words in my content but at least I know the ones to work on now...

jasons Google honeybearplayhomes and this is what you will see

1 - 10 of about 586 for honeybearplayhomes... First on the first page

Honey Bear Playhomes - Welcome
Each Honey Bear Playhome is a custom designed and built treasure that will be played in for years to come. Its construction is to the exacting standards ...

Window Tittle = Honey Bear Playhomes - Welcome

Description = Each Honey Bear Playhome is a custom designed and built treasure that will be played in for years to come. Its construction is to the exacting standards ...

The more descriptive your description is the better it will be. Viewers take only seconds to decide if they want to click through to your site. Draw their interest and make them want to visit.

Just remember that I was exactly where you are today only months ago and look at my site now. Not bad for my first site I think...

Thanks Ed.

Now just to be specific.

Which box do you put descriptive words in? (the description or keyword box)

Do I put commas in between each word?

Since there are several pages on my sites, do I have to do each page as far as the description and keyword box go? Can each page be identical in the description and keyword box?

Please give me specifics for what I need to do for the description and keyword box.....

I would greatly appreciate it....

And congrats on your site. Unbelievable stats my friends..

Best,

Jason

Thanks for the congrats...

Google ((( honey bear playhomes ))) and you will see my index page and my FAQ page. Notice how the description is different in both. What you will want to do is type descriptions for each page including your site name and what the page and site is about. Keep it short and to the point. Make it catchy and informative...

Description box = Write your description as though you are writing any normal sentence... You need not place commas between each word like your keywords. Each page description could be the same but it is best to change it up a bit and make them unique. Just a medium sized sentence will do.

As to keyword you should have them on all your pages.

Can't wait to see your site...
