Hi Boomer This thread is for us -

I shall have another go at the task you set me tonight, I shall report back on here with the steps that I took with pictures. You can probably see where I am going wrong.

just one thing before I go, in the section where I can keep putting URLs of images and their links (max 5) will this create a sort of menu with all the options within it?

Anyway I shall have another go - once I get it right once I will be ok to do the rest.

thanks
Stewart

Hi Boomer

I have tried it again and it worked fine, I did not even have to update or anything. I can put each one in and it lists them just like I had them before.

I am not sure why it did not do it yesterday??

Does this mean that if I was to put them all in this way there will be no pauses if caches are empty - the mouse over effects will be instant every time somebody comes on to the site.

Thanks a lot Boomer I hope others read this and learn about this great technique - If your interested in mouse over buttons etc.

Go to http://forsite.synthasite.com/tut-mou...

thanks again

Hi Stewart,

I've actually done all the code for you already. I just can't test it on my test site because I can't log in. Emmy is sorting it out for me as we speak and as soon as it's sorted out I'll do the test page and post it here.

I could also post the untested code here if you want. Your call ?

P.S. I think she may have forgotten about me ;-)

Cheers Boomer that's great

I have come against some problems since I last posted. I was not aware that you could only have one HTML window with this code in it. Is their away of having multiple HTML windows that operated this way.

They seem to cancel each other out. I had a go at creating more menu options than 5. by changing the numbers. I have copied it below - imagine these on the end of the 5 options that are working fine. (until I add these on the end) none of it works now.

The store mouse over is not a link it creates two arrows enabling the customer to choose the currency of their country.

loadImage6 = new Image();
loadImage6.src = "http://www.photoconfident.com/resourc...;
staticImage6 = new Image();
staticImage6.src = "http://www.photoconfident.com/resourc... ";

loadImage7 = new Image();
loadImage7.src = "http://www.photoconfident.com/resourc...;
staticImage7 = new Image();
staticImage7.src = "http://www.photoconfident.com/resourc... ";

// End -->

I cant get this to show the HTML instead of the what it actually produces. But as you can see they are not doing their mouse over magic.

And I have made these sentences in to links - I told you I am not good at HTML lol :)

I am not going to touch anything else and wait for your reply

www.photoconfident.com - as you can see its all frozen

Cheers

Here we go Stewart,

The mouseover images will now preload into your browsers cache while your page loads so that when they are hovered over they will display instantly.

Hi Boomer

I know you have worked very hard on this but to my horror you have left an option out - General

I thought logically and tried to do it myself copying everything you have done but just change the numbers from 6 to 7

loadImage1= new Image();
loadImage1.src = "http://www.photoconfident.com/resourc...;
staticImage1 = new Image();
staticImage1.src = "http://www.photoconfident.com/resourc...;

loadImage2 = new Image();
loadImage2.src = "http://www.photoconfident.com/resourc...;
staticImage2 = new Image();
staticImage2.src = "http://www.photoconfident.com/resourc...;

loadImage3 = new Image();
loadImage3.src = "http://www.photoconfident.com/resourc...;
staticImage3 = new Image();
staticImage3.src = "http://www.photoconfident.com/resourc...;

loadImage4 = new Image();
loadImage4.src = "http://www.photoconfident.com/resourc...;
staticImage4 = new Image();
staticImage4.src = "http://www.photoconfident.com/resourc...;

loadImage5 = new Image();
loadImage5.src = "http://www.photoconfident.com/resourc...;
staticImage5 = new Image();
staticImage5.src = "http://www.photoconfident.com/resourc...;

loadImage6 = new Image();
loadImage6.src = "http://www.photoconfident.com/resourc...;
staticImage6 = new Image();
staticImage6.src = "http://www.photoconfident.com/resourc...;

loadImage7 = new Image();
loadImage7.src = "http://www.photoconfident.com/resourc...;
staticImage7 = new Image();
staticImage7.src = "http://www.photoconfident.com/resourc...;

but when I click ok I get the following appear

I do need the 7 options - and should this work I want to use this technique for the articles on the right hand side of the homepage that also use the mouse over effect.

I am sorry to keep throwing this back but HTML is so confusing.
Thanks
Stewart

Hi Lee

I do close it I am not sure why it has not copied across in my earlier post. here is a pic of what it looks like in the HTML widget after I have added a seventh option.

As you can see I get lots of colours that were not there before. I cant understand it because I am doing exactly the same as the other options just adding a seventh that is all. I have net even begun to edit the bit past the script part.

Thanks for helping me out.

I think I see the problem, Stewart. Image6 and 7 are the same - "Forum"
I'll look at it now for you...

Boomer that was just an example above I just copied it in to show you what happens when I make a 7th option.
I still had the same problem when I changed the image URL to the correct images - it just does not like the 7th option or to be tampered with.
If it cant be done then not to worry I have put in place what you have done so far which is a great help.
Cheers

Hi Stew,

I'm so sorry I left out the "General" button. Can't believe I did that.
Anyway, I have corrected the code. You can go ahead and copy it again.

I looked at your page source and you still seem to have the old code on there as well.
You will need to remove this. You can't have both. I also never saw the second half of my code. (I know you said that) This needs to be there for it to work.

Try my code on a test page first if you are unsure. Don't be despondent - you will get it right. It is the better way of doing things... you won't be sorry.

Boomer that's great - they all work fine.

When you said that you cant have both types of code on the same page what exactly did you mean. At present I will have your new codes controlling the menu on the left.

However I still have the old HTML codes controlling the the article selections on the right. will they conflict as they seem to be working ok now.

www.photoconfident.com - take a look

Anyway its time for bed now. Your a credit to the Yola team thanks

Cheers

My mistake Stewart, those other codes are fine :-)
I'm glad it's all working. Now you need to do the same with the menu on the right.
Remember to name the new images with different numbers. ie. image8, 9, 10 etc.

Oh, and I'm not part of the Yola team - I work for a living ;-)
Maybe I should apply for a position, I hear they have raucous, drunken parties :-))
