Instead of the music playing immediately upon viewing the page, there is a few minutes of delay before it plays. Is there a problem with why it will not start right away?

Thank you in advance!

Are you wanting the music to start right when someone enters the site? Can you tell me what you have done this far to put the music on your site.

If you could view the page itself, maybe it will reveal what I am asking. My site is: http://www.graphicspeaking.com/

The home page and the blog both have music files playing on them. However, I want the music to play right away, instead of a long pause beforehand.

Please let me know what you see. Thanks!

Hi Lee,

I looked at your site and no music played for me.

Unless you have definite reasons for doing this - such as that you are a musician and the people coming to your site will expect to hear a clip of your music, you should avoid adding music that plays automatically if at all possible.

Music that plays automatically is one of the quickest ways to get people to leave your site, either because they need it to be quiet because they are browsing the internet in an office, computer lab, library etc, or because it clashes with their own music that they are playing on their computer. Most people react by closing the browser tab or window the second the music starts to get rid of the unwanted intrusion as fast as possible.

However, if you still decide that background music is appropriate for your site, you can add music by uploading the sound file to your file manager and then using the HTML widget to embed the music.

I am going to share a link to an excellent article that explains how to do this. The article also gives very sound advice on the implications of adding music to your website. Please review it carefully before you proceed:http://www.thesitewizard.com/webdesig...

You can also add music by using the Widgetbox Gallery:

1. Drag and drop a Widgetbox Gallery widget onto your page.
2. A dialogue box will open, click on the Audio category or search for music.
3. Choose the player that you would like to use on your site.
4. Edit your settings to customise your widget.
5. Click on the green 'Get Widget' button and it will be saved and added to your page.
6. Save and preview your page to view the widget.

Please ensure that you own the copyright to the you will be playing. Please let us know if this does not solve your problem.

i agree - allow people to choose if they want music - there is NOTHING more annoying when web browsing than getting to a site which plays auto plays music - espeically when its not instantly obvious how to turn it off.

Hello lea,

The music has a delayed start because you are taking the feed from another site. This will almost always cause this delay and it may be variable.

The quickest response is to host the music on your own site.

Please consider the opinion raised by Ruth.
