Can you let me know if I have my A Record set up correctly. I am trying to transfer my domain name from Hostmonster to Yola. I guess all I have to do now is register for a silver account and allow a few hours for the A record to propagate to your server?

Hi Randy,
I am not familiar with the Hostmonster environment so I cannot say for sure if that is correct. The ip address is definitely correct, but you do need to have two of them, one for the www version and one for the non www version of the domain name. Are you able to add more than one?

Kind Regards,
Emmy

Hi Emmy!

This is what I received from Hostmonster:

You would need to point an A record from your domain for this. The @ symbol is a substitute for "Whatever your domain is". In other words, if your domain was 'domain.com' then @ would mean 'domain.com'.

You can use the Advanced DNS Zone Editor in your account to create the needed A record. DNS propagation takes 1-48 hours.

I will see how far I get. If there are others out there who are with Hostmonster and have gone through this process, I would like to hear from you. In the meantime, I will give it a shot and see how it goes.

Hostmonster has been updating some of its tools. Here are the latest instructions which I followed as well as a screen shot of what my settings look like now. Is this the correct setting for the A record?

1) log into cpanel

2) Go to the domains category and select dns zone editor

3) Select your domain name from the drop down menu.

4) If you want to update your primary A record slunderandslunder.com scroll down until you see @ 74.220.207.189

5) click the delete button on the right

6) above type in @ in the name field in the add dns editor record section.

7) and in the address field put in 184.72.229.176

Hello Randy,

Thanks for sharing the screenshot. You actually need to set up 2 A records. One is for your @ which you have set up correctly. You still need one for you www. You may need to contact Hostmonster to see how you can add an additional A record.
