The problem with ranking in the search engines and trying to stay in the same place is that the search engines change their algorithms and how they rank sites and pages all the time. One day you might be in position 1, the next day in position 8. This is a struggle all webmasters have. I am not sure what keywords you were using to search; but this will also make a difference as well. One thing to consider is all of the sites vying for the same keywords, and the search engine needs to constantly decide which site to put in which position in their results. The best thing to do is to continue to add fresh content to your site, optimize the content with keywords and meta tags, and also work on gathering more backlinks as this is a very important part of how the search engine ranks pages.

We have a series of SEO Tutorials which will step you through various ways to optimize your site for the search engines; here is a link: SEO Tutorials. Another great thing to do is add a blog to your site, this will give you an easy way to continually add new, fresh content to your site which is very good for search engine optimization. Here is a link: How to start a free blog with Yola.

A great way to promote your site and any updates you make is through Twitter. If you have a Twitter account, you can easily Tweet any changes or updates you make when you publish! For more information on this please see our tutorial Promoting your site with Twitter.

Hello Mr. Phillip,
You need to go for a professional SEO service provider, they take complete care for whatever is the problem... I did this for my site: www.sugandhsagar.com.
Its on 3 or 4th position in a few keywords and I get a good traffic. You can check my service provider - www.spectrainfocom.com. there are others too who work good bt go for first work then pay. Your money is safe then ;).

Keywords are not considered by Google for ranking. This has been stated emphatically. The reason being is that they can be spoofed so easily.

The content is king and you should introduce those words into the body of your pages. metas will have no effect on Google SEO.

When emphasizing keywords within your content, try to remember that headings and alt tags have more emphasis than regular paragraph content. Try to emphasize your website title (your domain name) somewhere in the page, best in headings... not always convenient though to do this. AVOID BLACK HAT TRICKS such as including keywords the same color as the background. This has often been used so search engines will find them but your users won't see them. Search Engines are smarter than that, websites often get banned for doing so.

Also, you can test and see how many pages show up in Google, although, it won't specify your rank for any given keyword...

in a Google search, type... site:http://mysite.com <-- your domain name.

Bing (Yahoo) and Google do not use keywords to index your site. There is no need to add keywords for this purpose at all.
