How do I reset my Name Servers? I edited them accidentally (linking a domain to a web host is a pain in the ass, by the way) and now I don't know what to do.

Why does Yola's free hosting suck? That would have been much easier.

Hi Conrad,

I'm sorry to hear you are struggling with your DNS settings. If you wish to revert your nameservers back to Yola, please let me know, I'd be happy to update that for you if you reply with your domain name.

If you prefer to do it yourself, you can change your domain's settings back to Yola's name servers by following these steps:

Login to your Yola account and make sure you are on the "My Sites" page.
Click on "Domains" and then click on "Advanced domain settings".
Click on "Set up name servers".
Click on "Let Yola automatically manage your DNS settings for ..."
Click on "Use Yola's name servers".

Please note that the change may take a few hours to take effect.

If you are pointing your name servers to another host, here are the steps to change the name servers on your domain:

Log into your Yola account and click on the "Domains" link on the left-hand side.
Click on "Advanced Settings" next to the domain name.
Click on "Set up name servers" on the page that opens and click on "Change name servers".
Enter the new name server information in the fields provided and click on "Update name servers".

Your domain settings will be updated, but again, it may take a few hours for the change to take effect.

You indicated that you are not satisfied with our hosting services. We take a lot of pride in our hosting and would love any specific feedback you can provide so we can improve your experience.

When you say "linking a domain to a web host is a pain in the ass," can you please go into more detail about the problem? Are you trying to point an external domain to Yola or a Yola bought domain to another host? With more details I'm confident I can assist you further.

I want a free host that will let me run Wordpress (not some proprietary junk like Yola forces on me) so I can try my hand at this blogging thing risk-free. If I can make something of it I will upgrade to a full hosting package (and domain renewals) with that host. But right now everything seems impossible. I don't know how to fix it. I don't know where to start. Nobody's instructions make any sense.

Hi there Conrad,
I'm really sorry to hear you are having some trouble getting started building your site. The Yola Sitebuilder will not let you run Wordpress in it, but Yola does have a blogging feature.

You made the comment that everything seems impossible and you're not sure where to start, can you tell me more about this and how I can assist. What stage of the building process are you at now?

Kind Regards,
Emmy
