I am having a problem with my site coming up when someone looks for it, I am doing a home party this weekend and gave my site out for people to view my products and pricing before hand. When they search for the site, instead of my actual site they are getting a bunch of links to dialogues of the questions and answers to problems that I have posted here. UGH please help !!

I'm totally lost... But I'll try...
How did you give out the link, through emails or was it some other way?

What dialogues, the ones here on Yola's Get Satisfaction?

most people tell they are having a problem bringing it up. I tried myself and one time it works the next it doesnt
thanks for any help you can offer

Visiting by your link works fine. But I think you need to submit your site to the search engines for people to be able to bring your site up when they search for your site's name. Otherwise search engines will just bring up things with your site's name on it, not necessarily the site itself. Anywhere it can find your name it will display even if it's Yola's get satisfaction threads.

Search engines do crawl the web and automatically add sites, but if you want someone to be able to type in Kims Kreative Keepsakes and actually get your site as a result you may need to add yourself to Google, Yahoo, etc. That's what's happening here, wherever your website's name is found it will show, so you need to get your actual website to appear first, by submitting it to search engines...

I wasnt using the http:// I tried it that way and now it works every time. I did not realize that would make a difference. If I give it to people that way before I get it listed on the seach engines should it work ok? How do I get it listed on the search engines? Its not done yet is it ok to do that before its complete? thank you both for your help and thanks for the compliment Kimberly!

Typing in the http:// is no longer relevant for web browsers... if you type in kimskreativekeepsakes.yolasite.com your site should come up every time. However if you send a link to someone you must include the http:// etc etc. so that the email or whatever you are sending knows its a link and that it should carry the person to a page.
You can use the search engine of your choice and type in > submit a site to (Search Engine of your Choice) and it will bring you to the page where you enter your url, description etc.
Here are two you can do right away or even wait til' later... However if you are giving out the link, there is no reason not to go ahead and submit it to search engines, unless of course you are changing the domain name at some point.
Here's google... http://www.google.com/addurl/?continu...
Here's yahoo... http://siteexplorer.search.yahoo.com/...

Hi Kim,

Isn't this community fantastic about jumping in and helping other users? I'm new to the team but I'm just amazed at how great this group is!

I was also able to pull up your site without an issue. When I entered kimskreativekeepsakes.yolasite.com into my address bar this is where my browser pointed:

However if I search for kimskreativekeepsakes.yolasite.com in my google search bar I am directed here:

Get Satisfaction has very good SEO which means references to your site here will be returned as search results. To avoid this you can direct people to enter your site name directly into their browser address bar, and be sure to include the http:// when sending your link over the web as that will make your link active, i.e. http://kimskreativekeepsakes.yolasite....

In the meantime if you are interested in improving your own SEO, you can check out our Introduction to SEO webinar on Yola.tv: http://www.yola.tv/seo.php

This is actually good for you Kim.....Have to say I am still perplexed as to why your gallery is still so slow to change pages....Just for the heck of it maybe try in the site builder Save Page As on your gallery page to create a new one(your old one will still be there)....Then see if it works any better.

I decided to try out the water slide decals for some of my art...Any tips? I seem to rub a little color off when I try to get rid of the excess water......Here is my first try on a plate if you would like to take a look....http://kanthaidecor.com/home-decor-bl...
