Hello Michael,

No, Yola would never do anything like that. When you post a link to Facebook via the publish dialog, that is going through Facebook's API and Yola never sees your password.

I hope this is helpful.

There isn't a way for a website to get a Facebook user's password. Trust me, everything is safe. If you still don't feel that it is, you don't have to use the post to Facebook box.

Here is a page of Facebook's Post API: http://developers.facebook.com/docs/r...

I just re-read your question. When you click the link, it is simply bringing you to the website you built. If it was one of those fake links, then it wouldn't be posted by you (via the publish pop up), would it?

Don't put anything on Facebook that you don't want others to know about. Facebook is not secure there have been so many investigations by notable groups to show this.

Yola is not getting involved with hacking sites why would they need to? Why would they risk their business? Why would they jeopardise their integrity? If the main purpose of the business of Facebook is advertising Yola would simply subscribe to the relevant classification of FB advertising and they don't even have to know your name to know what you like, where you shop on-line, what your business interests are and it goes on.

Individuals can hack many sites by guessing or phishing for clues for login passwords. If you have 500 friends on FB then the best estimate is that only 50% are real the rest are robot creations. What do you share with your friends? The same info that you share with your fake friends and that is stored out of Facebook then.

Facebook is social. The fact that it is social lowers the security veil in peoples minds. You can trust your friends?

@Gop: Yeah, Yola would never do anything like that. They are a company.

But individuals can make websites that look like Facebook (phishing) and then if you enter your login details on that, those people that built the site instantly get your email/password. That's why you always have to make sure that the domain name in the address bar is facebook.com and not something else like, for example, faceb00k.com.

Anyway, if you don't feel safe with posting to Facebook through the publish dialog, then don't do it, you're not required to post or anything :) You can always post your Yola URL to Facebook right on Facebook if you wanted to as well.
