New bugs

Hmmm seems we are a little buggy this morning...

1) Used a test site to try out the new styles and got to the part of uploading an image to use as the background and once I tried to upload them it gave me the first screenshot.

2) Opened my file manager in several of my sites (honeybearplayhomes included) and got the second screenshot. Fist time that none of my files have ever not shown up.

Tried refreshing the page and emptying the temp and cache but still the same. Tried logging out then in several times but it still remains the same. Cannot upload any file type. They may be in there but not visible. In the past this has happened with maybe one or two images but never to this extent with every file invisible.

Keep your chins up... ;))) and on a positive note I can't wait to use the new styles I already know that they are going to be great for Santa came a calling...

Thanks Ed - if you've cleared your cache etc and it's still happening, can you try restarting your browser to see if that solves the problem?

Could you also try in a different browser and let me know if the error message still comes up?

I was in the process of doing just that but I had to quickly bookmark a dozen pages before I could close out Firefox. ;)

Okay so this is where I stand.

Firefox... after a cleansing of the temp, and a Firefox shut down and restart, as well as a computer restart = no files or upload possible and still the same error message as above.

Opera... after loading the sitebuilder I was able to open the site easily as well as view the files in my file manager and upload new images. I set a new background and updated and the update held.

IE... I had an error upon "top" sign in 3 times and I typed the same info as I have thousands of times. Finally got in using the "side" sign in and the site failed to load and had the loading flash constant. I know that this site that I tested it with had only a hand full of files so it is not a size issue. I cleared temp and cache and the issue persisted. After a few failed attempts and 20 minutes later nothing.

Hmmm are you guys not having issues on your end and can upload inages and view the file manager ok in Firefox?

So I tested and re-tested in IE and the "top" sign in still fails to allow access or load the site.

Interesting observation... After entering in my email address and upon typing in my password the letters were present and not hidden with the dots but again I was able to sign in with the "side" sign i with no problem and the password was hidden from view as normal.

Even still it is loading all this time later.

Yeah just tell everybody to keep their spirits up and the coffee on ;)

Ed,

We are currently unable to reproduce your error. We can upload files and view them in the file manager on all browsers, in numerous accounts as well as new accounts and sites.

A couple of other users have reported the same issue though, so we are trying very hard to reproduce it so that we know how to fix it. Where we received permission to log in on behalf of users with the problem, everything worked perfectly.

Will let you know when we find anything. If you make any progress on your side let us know too.

Did you clear all your Firefox history?

Ok... that was weird. I had cleared my Firefox history, cache and cookies at least a half dozen times and then I just dumped it all including offline data, saved passwords and Authenticated sessions then opened my site and was able to upload and view files with no problem. hmmm I guess there must be something to that. I don't see how but I am glad it worked.

Hmmm little hiccup and there seems to be a light at the end of the tunnel for Firefox but IE is still out of luck even after a full system cleansing (again) plus the sign in issue is still there.

Glad you got FF working.

The IE issue you describe sounds completely different though. Do you mean you are unable to log in to your account at all using IE, unless you go via the "side" door?

That's right...

The top sign in for some reason does not hide the password and it goes right to the error screen no matter how many times I try. The side sign in for the error screen is the only way that I can gain access beyond the sign in. Sadly it happens to be a moot point as the site editor fails to load.

I will try and work around that one later as it may be a ghost on my computer if nobody else is having the same sign in or load issues with their IE. I do have my doubts though as it was only the other day that I was able to access the password and site builder with IE.

Here's a though... My java is all messed up in the IE and I cannot update it as a necessary file is missing and only a full XP reinstall will correct it. Could the update and this java issue have affected this and be the cause. Were there any changes that may connect the two? Just trying to think outside the box.

It's too late and or early for me so I am off to slumber ;) Thanks for the update and all the hard work you all put into it.

Night or morning

Okay well now I can't access the site builder in any browser. I gather that some work is being done over there?

It takes forever to have the sign in page come up and when it does after signing in the site builder fails to load. This is on FF,IE and Opera

Even with my laptop and under my other email and site sign in I am unable. How interesting.

We have a general failure at the moment. Lisa and the team are working on it. Looks like we are having one of those days, but we will try to get on top of things as soon as possible.

Bunch of smart cookies so I am sure that it will get worked out in the end...

Ed, I don't seem to be having the same problems as you.
I can log in with three different emails into three different sites.
Works with FF and IE. I tried it with IE 6.0 though!

Yeah, thanks for the update guys.
I see 4 new Lilly white templates - SqueakyClean, NoFrills, CleanSlate and
the best one for Ed or Santa is , BareNecessities.. lol

With the NoFrills template, does the "free website backgrounds" mean
you can change the backgrounds?.. and how do you change the "Logo" that is displayed in the top left corner? Maybe I'm jumping the gun a bit .....
I'm sure you guys are going to explain all the new features soon anyway.

Oh yes... is someone going to change the SynthaSite Style Info
I think it was Marije's handywork ?

Thanks again for update and all the time you guys put in for us.

Hope you come right Ed.

Maybe I should answer all my replies with a smiley face so you can see that I am always happy regardless the situation. ;)

One other odd thing though... On the sign in page for a while there after the update the new user sign in had my email and sign in info already pre-filled in. Usually these are always blank. Now it is blank once more.

Hi Boomer

There is a problem that we are working on, but we will update our support documentation shortly.

You can change the background image on all the new styles using the "Background image" field in the Properties sidebar. Two of them also support custom banner images.

Have you checked out all the cool colour palettes for the new styles? The Hessian one is my favorite.

Hmmm are you the man in the machine Boomer? If it works fine for you in South Africa I wonder why in REDMOND the land of the computers it is not?

I know that you have something to do with it. You don't want me to include the goodies I have been saving for adding this morning. What a shame as they are head turners...

Funny guy with the bear... lol

No Bugs....Just hugs.

Saw a few people complaining about links not working anymore...and
just wanted to add.....

I had the same problem on one of my sites that is heavilly under
construction at the moment. i.e. It did not affect the older sites that
are already published. My picture links to internal pages stopped
working after your last update. This morning I re-did ONE of the links,
republished the site and now ALL of the links are working again.
Maybe I just needed to open the site editor and go straight to republish
and this would have sorted the problem.

Just thought, if anybody else was having the same problem they could
try that first. The problem seems to be fixed now - Excellent.

In the past if you copied and pasted text into a text widget in the site
builder, it had the annoying habit of leaving a "space' before the first
character in the first line of text which always had to be deleted.
This problem seems to be resolved - Excellent, Excellent.

When you "saved page as...." in the site builder the widget's in the new
page almost always came out jumbled up and had to be painstaikingly
re-sorted. I / we lived with this anomaly without ever complaining, as it
was better than doing the page manually. You guys have done an
excellent job of fixing this issue. Excellent, Excellent, Excellent.

I tried it on two pages (with a lot of widget's) and it re-created them
perfectly. I hope this wasn't just luck and that it was one of the
bug fixes in the last SynthaSite uptate....Holding thumbs.

Thanks again,
Boomer

Hi boomer - the issue with image links was a bug and we just rolled out a fix! I am glad your experience confirms that the fix was successful. We are glad that the other bug fixes seem to be working. We redid the text editor and unless we introduced new bugs we are not aware of it should work better - keep testing it and let us know find.

Monique?

Did they also work on the "save page as..." issue or have I just
been lucky?

I'm not sure. A lot of stuff was changed. Some of it I understand and some I don't. If your "luck" holds then it probably is a bug fix and not a coincidence. If the problem re-occurs let us know so that we can fix any bug that is still out there.
