hi there,

My site is
It's a site for a wedding band.

We have a Yola silver account which i think is paid till December 2013.

I have recently found out that there is another group called Mercury in my town an so we need to change our name and website domain. Is it possible to delete the old one and transfer our credit to a new one?

Hi Larry,

Domains are paid for initially and are not refundable so unfortunately there isn't credit for the time remaining. A domain isn't cancelled but simply left there until it expires.

You can buy a new domain, unpublish your site from the old domain and republish to a new domain.

Hello Larry

Gop is right (thanks for that, Gop). I can see that you have a domain which currently always needs to be registered for 2 years, it will only expire at the end of 2013. I'm afraid that we cannot change that.

What you can do is buy the new domain you want as an additional domain. I know that this would mean extra costs, but having multiple domains can be very beneficial in general, also with regard to your search engine ranking. You can assign both your domains to one website with Yola.

The other benefit about it would clearly be that people who try to find the competing group you mentioned may get on your website first and decide to book your wedding band! ;-)

And if you are honest and have integrity with no intention of trickery, then you could simply not use your old domain and allow the other domain holder to get clients as they intend to find their web-site. Probably a nicer and better business model to follow.
