Can we have a new forum to post workarounds for functionality missing in Yola ?

people would post workarounds and ask how to fill a gap not being filled by Yola yet.

Hi Rogers I.S Consulting,

Get Satisfaction (the service that Yola uses) is more of a community-powered support than a standard forum, therefore it does not have sub-forums.

Can you let us know what functionality that you are looking for in Yola that isn't on it yet?

Thanks.

I support your idea of a focus for such solutions and I very much agree with Nathan that we need to define the issue fairly accurately.

With that info you can then move on and see what may have been presented and discoverable previously published and look for a way to consolidate all this stuff if, as I suspect it is, in the forum somewhere.

Sanja has created a great resource in the Yola Code Site and Shawn and Nathan with friends have done amazing work with fixes and codes for various requirements. Ed of Honeybear Playhomes has produced "the best of" in many classes and is a true primary resource for many Yola workarounds. The Yola tutorials themselves, have a number of workarounds and are invaluable and fortunately easily found and referenced. There are other sites out there with Yola related fixes, tips and solutions and if you can identify this stuff then all you need is a librarian to bring it all together :) ( or a Google clone)

The addition of any new stuff then would be much quicker rather than re-inventing the wheel and disregarding the hard work of previous good efforts. Where then to put this stuff is the core of your suggestion and I think that it is a top idea and will be very much appreciated with an answer. You would need to be cautious and aware that the content on the Forum is Copyright with all rights reserved by Get Satisfaction so the resource would need to be mindful of this. Links to threads and answers on GS would be OK and I think easier to manage.
Thanks for the replies, as Gop mentioned there is a lot if info and I was looking for a central place for everyone to go to. I also have some workarounds to share, so that was why I created the thread.

As far as missing functionality - these would be features such as:
1) Bring email marketing into Yola instead of using a 3rd party service

2) Database to collect form submissions and customers who made purchases from the eCommerce, and email newsletter sign-ups.The database would then drive the email marketing and order management/eCommerce reports. If an actual database is technically a no go, then store the data in a spreadsheet as some other cms's are doing.

These would push Yola right to the top, you already have a great product.

Thanks RISC,

I would love to see a relational database implemented and used for any and specific requirements such as those you mentioned. Including "the central place" for your proposed access to work-arounds. We could probably fire the librarian and use the experience of those here with db histories?

I'm interested in the significance of in house email marketing. and presumed that a 3rd party system was as helpful as in-house. Obviously not so I would like to learn?

That would be great if there's a database to collect form submissions, then we could view all of the form submissions at some place within Yola. I do this with my other non-Yola web apps so I can see all of the submissions, and it's a great idea.
