New Look for our Widget Toolbox

Hi All

If you logged into your Yola account today you might have noticed that the Widget Toolbox in the sidebar on the right looked a little different.

For the last few months we have been running a test to see which toolbox was the best, the old one many of you are used to or the new one that we released today for all users. To do this we showed half of our new customers the old toolbox, and half got the new one. We concluded that the new toolbox had a better look and feel, and after receiving positive feedback on it we have now upgraded everyone to the new version.

Everything works pretty much the same, as you still drag and drop widgets onto your page to add content, but you might notice that the most important widgets are now at the top and you can expand or collapse the different categories instead of having to open a folder. We hope you like it!

in this particular thread, I wasn't complaining at all. I don't "mind" the new look, I just like...

WHAT I AM USE TO!

It took me 5 minutes to find google adsense widget, but now I know where it's at. AFTER I get use to something, I tend to like it. And until I get used to the new look of the widget toolbox, I probably won't care for it much, just cause I'll be clicking the "widgetbox gallery" instead of the text widget because it's in the place text widget use to be. The old version I could practically do with my eyes closed.

and sometimes, the more basic something is, the easier it is. Although this new toolbox will be easy once it's gotten use to, the other one will probably always be easier. The new one though... is probably considered MORE FUNCTIONAL rather than ease of use and that's probably why it was designed to make things more functional.

Pretty good. Room for improvement such as customizable toolbar(s) so that you can ajust what you want on your toolbars and dont end up with clutter you dont need. However you have also done an amazing job, which I think deserves a clap.

Have an Eclap!

Hi Martha

Here is a link to a tutorial that will show you how to add video to your site: http://www.yola.com/customer-support/...

Please note: that tutorial is a little out of date. We are still busy updating all our help files to reflect the new toolbox. You can find the video options under: "Photo Galleries and Videos" in the new toolbox.

I hope this helps. Let us know if you get stuck.

Yes; I noticed when the toolbar changed, actually happened to me between cycles of web development. I adjusted very easily, I like the compact feel of the toolbox, everything moves very smoothly, much easier to use. I am sure that you know how important time is when developing. Thanks!

Actually the new widget toolbox is a pain for me! When it is "summoned" it covers over the right side of my web pages and although I can still "drag" a widget to the sections that are covered by the new toolbox, it makes it very difficult to see where the widget is going...so a big thumbs down for me....unless i am missing something?

Hi Simon, this is a 3 year old post. I assume you are referring to today's release.

We're curious if you're seeing this due to your screen resolution. Also, how large is your screen? We would like to investigate this further for you.

Hi Greg,

We never did hear back from Simon regarding his screen size or resolution. Can you please reply with your site address and share that information so we can take a look?

Sorry Greg, the additional information we were looking for is your screen resolution and the size of your screen.
