I created a new page, but set it not to show in navigation while I work on it. Now I can't find it anywhere and can't use the same name for a new page because the name is reserved.

Hi,

Have you clicked on the "Edit Menu" button?

This will show you all of the pages on your site, those that are in and out of the menu.

It's not in the edit menu or in the Site manager. I assumed that it would go to the "out" menu, but it didn't. It's just gone. I also updated the site. This isn't the first time stuff has disappeared. I had an index of subpages that came up blank yesterday, even though it had been working perfectly before.

I checked it in three different browsers and it's just not there. It was named Resources, and I really need to be able to use that title.

By the way, the site is insideaspergers.com

I'm seriously beginning to wonder if the builder is stable enough for me to depend on it for my sites. I have another one just starting development, and I'm holding off until this is settled. I picked Synthasite as the best of three web.2 hosts, after trying them all out. Hope I wasn't wrong.

Hi catana
I am sorry to hear that you have encountered this problem. From your description it sounds like the page still exists, but it is not visible in the site manager.

I need to take a closer look at this. Could you do the following for me, please?
1. Log into you account and open up your site
2. Click on the "Help" menu
3. Click on "Contact Support"
4. Fill in the form and send it to me (mark it "attention Monique")

That will give me more information that will help me solve the problem.

I think I know what the problem is.

When you try to create a page with the name "Resources" the error message you get is "*Reserved Page Name." I think the reason for this is that the name of your page is also the filename for that page. The reason this page name is "reserved" (not available for use) is that all the files you upload are uploaded to your "resources" directory. The path for any file you upload is /resources/filename. If we allowed you to create a page with the filename "resources" this would cause problems.

If the page already existed the error message would read: "This page already exists, do you want to overwrite it?"

You mentioned that you need your page to be called "Resources". Here is a solution I can suggest:

1) create a page and name it something other than "Resources" (whatever makes sense you you)

2) Then click on "Edit Menu" and click the "settings" link next to your "Resources" page. Two boxes will open up that will allow you to edit the menu text and the hover text. Type "Resources" into those boxes. Then click "ok"

Your page will then have an acceptable filename, but the link in your menu (which people see) will be Resources.

I hope this helps. Please let me know if anything I have said doesn't make sense to you.

It worked! As soon as I got my brain unfogged enough to think through it, your explanation made perfect sense. There were two sources of confusion. I thought that "reserved" referred to the page I had created (which hadn't been created), and I also thought it had something to do with setting it to be off the navigation menu. Thanks ever so much.

Yes.. I do believe this is the same problem. Please try renaming your page to something else and see if this clears the issue you're having.
