New SynthaSite Features Released!

Yesterday (17 December 2008), we rolled out some great new SynthaSite features.

Apart from bug fixes and other enhancements, here are two exciting features for you to play around with:

1) A shiny new file manager!

The old file manager was very basic and difficult to work with if you had a large number of files. The new file manager allows you to:
a) Organize your files into folders to better manage the resources on your site.
b) Select and upload multiple files easily.
c) Easily chose between uploading an image from your computer or selecting one from your file manager when adding a picture to your page.
d) Search for files in your file manager.
e) Copy and paste existing files to easily move them into new folders.
f) Rename your file
g) View a full version of the file
The new file manager has been a pet project for many of us for some time and we are delighted to finally share the results of our work with you!

A few important points to note:
1) You need to have Adobe Flash version 9.0.45 or higher installed in order to use the new file manager.
2) If you move an existing file to a new folder, and then delete the old file, you will need to edit any widget on your site that uses this file. Go to the widget, click "Edit" - then select the file in the file manager and click "ok". This is because the path to the file changes when you put it in a new folder and you need to update your site accordingly.
3) Right click on any file in your file manager to access a menu that allows you to copy, rename, edit or delete a file.
4) Clicking the "Edit Image" button will cause the Picnik image editor to load. This button has the same function as the old "Edit with Picnik" button.

2) Verify your site with Google Friend Connect
Google Friend Connect is a great service that allows you to add social features to your website!

We have made it possible for all SynthaSite users to easily integrate this service with their websites. For more information, see: http://getsatisfaction.com/SynthaSite...

We hope you enjoy the new features.

SynthaSite wishes everyone a blessed festive season and we look forward to an exciting 2009 together!

Cool stuff
But iv got 3 questions:

1) Can I add existing files to any new folders?

2) Do i have to change all swf embed codes
from: resources/"my_file.swf
to: resources/Site_Files:Fun and Gamez 4 all/"my_file.swf

3) If i can add existing files to any new folders and iv embedded any swf do i have to change source
from: resources/"my_file.swf"
to: resources/"my-subfolder"/"my_file.swf"

My website:

1) You can add existing files to folders by copying and pasting.
2) You will have to update your swf embed codes if you delete the file from it's current location after copying and pasting.
3) yes - you are correct about how the path to your file will change and this will need to be updated.
Thanks for the quick reply
and for answering all the three questions
I tried and the embeding worked...

and all pages have flash menus embedded and i'v got approximately 50 pages...
So is there any quicker or any automatic way to change all...

Like the new file manager except that bitmap files don't show as image thumbnails....Guess I will go through and replace them all with smaller file types as they as seem to still show.

So how does this work to move files ? I right click copy the image but have no paste option to move to a folder.Every other file manager will let you drag and drop files into folders also

Hi John,

To move a file, you can right-click > copy and in the new folder right-click > paste. You can select multiple files when you do this so that you don't have to do them one at a time. To select multiple files, hold down the shift-key (to select blocks of files) or ctrl-key (to select certain files) and then right-click > copy.

You can delete the copied files in the old folder by selecting them and right-click > delete.

Please let us know if you have any other questions.

Yes that is the standard way of doing that and as I said after I copy and go to the new folder I do not get a paste option

I'm sorry I didn't reply correctly! Could you let me know what browser you're using so that we can check it out on our side?

Thanks John - Firefox did an update yesterday, it might help to check that it's finished installing. I know this because I was also experiencing weird glitches and when I restarted the browser/computer it all worked smoothly. If it continues, can you submit a support request by clicking on Help on the top right? Feel free to mark it to my attention.

The paste option is hidden behind another popup.
If you click anywhere outside of the file manager folder,
this popup dissapears, and you will see the "paste" option.

This seems to be a bug.
I also get it with FF.
