Hi I am just wondering the quickest and easiest way for a link on my page to open up in a new tab. So I can link another site from mine, but not navigate away from my page.

Thanks in advance.

Hi shaunmcalpine,

The easiest way to do this would be to add the target="_blank" tag to your link's HTML. This effectively means that HTML for your link would look like this:

<!--
<a href="http://www.your-link-goes-here.com" target="_blank">Your Link</a>
-->

Please remember not to use the <! -- and the --> tags. Their only purpose is to prevent the forum from rendering the HTML.

I hope this helps.

Ok, thanks for the replies, but Im not quite sure if we are talking about the same thing here.

Basically I have written something in a text box. I then highlight it and add a link to it. For a page that is not on my site. So an external link. It works fine just like that, except I would like it to open up in a new tab when others click on it. So my page will remain open.

I tried the steps given above by ALEXIS-H and FRANCOIS, but it seems to be about the HTML codes. When I tried this, It pasted part of the new page in the text box with the words TARGET = "NEW" in it. I thought I would only have to edit the URL from the new link. I'm Probably wrong here and missing something obvious, so if someone would like to correct me that would be great. I am new to yola and website building so forgive me.

Thanks again for your quick responses and all the help...

Ok sorry.... I just figured it out. I adjust the HTML that is already attached to the link I had put in.

Thank you again guys,

Hi shaunmcalpine,

Thanks for getting back to us. You are correct when you say that you only have to edit the link. Once you've successfully linked the text, go back into the text widget, click on your link and then click the HTML icon within your Yola sitebuilder. It's the little blue icon on the right and it is on the same row as your font tools.

This will then open up that text in the HTML window and will allow you to edit the link and insert target="_blank" in the link. Your link should then look like this:

<!--
<a href="http://www.your-link-goes-here.com" target="_blank">Your Link</a>
-->

Once you've done this, click OK, save the page and preview or test it.

Let me know if this works for you.

Hello surreycycles,

Yes, you can do the same for an image link but again this would require HTML coding. Here's the code:

<a href="http://www.your-link-goes-here.com" target="_blank"><img src="resources/yourimage.jpg"></a>

Replace the "resources/yourimage.jpg" with the name of your image file.

Please let us know if you have any trouble with this.

You would need to upload the images to your Yola filemanager before you could add them to your site or implement the code Sanja provided above.
