Hi a1web

Thanks for trying out the new text widget. This does sound something like a bug we are investigating. Can you tell us what browser you experienced this in?

Hope you don't mind if I chime in. I just checked the new text widget out. This is so much better than the last time and Yola is real close to nailing this I think. One thing I would like is the html button as on the old one...sometimes it works out better to add html via the text widget.....Or maybe that is possible and I am not seeing it.

Thank you for your feedback, a1webUK. When trying in Chrome and in the same version, it however only happens to some of us in the Support team. We'll keep investigating and working on a fix.

Why has this post been marked as solved.
I'm still having problems with it and I have to say that i'm not happy about its introduction in a similar way that caused so much trouble before.

Once again it is being forced upon us instead of adding it as a choice.
I started a new site tonight and all of the pre-text on the site had been formatted with the new txt widget ...
I do not want this and want the new widget to be a choice and not forced on us with each new site.

Yes it can be easy to change if I want to go through every page and delete the pre-txt with the template and then add a old type txt widget to replace all that had been done and forced upon me with the new txt widget.

Please yola.. lets not go down this road again.. you messed up in a massive way before and we can all do without going through this again.

A great deal of us lost money before because we had to repair our sites from the mess yola made with forcing changes on us that had not been correctly tested.

I dont want to log in to do updates or start a new site and have to delete and replace so much data before I can do what I came on to do.

Leave the old options as they are and just have the new widget a a choice for anyone to use..
Having tried it out in IE... I can only see me using for wrap around, but even that was messy when getting it to look tidy and fit correctly.
I dont like to enter the styling editor area and want nothing to do with it and it should stay as a choice.

There is one thing that is missing from the new txt widget ...
there are some ready made editing options on the widget bar and the one thing missing is the size for fonts - txt without having to go into the style area which can be daunting for most of us with still so many bugs in there..

Please do not have the pre-text in templates formatted with the new widget.
Those who want the new widget can choose to change any txt they wish by just leaving it as a freedom of choice.

thankyou.

Hi a1web

I am able to use the new text widget in Chrome but we are continuing to investigate reports from customers who say they are still unable to do so. For most clearing their cache has resolved the issue, but if it has not for you then we will update this thread if we are able to replicate on our end.

Regarding your feedback, with this release we have made a point of:

1) Not changing any text widgets already on users' sites.
2) Leaving the old text widget available to existing users if they wish to continue to make use of it.

While we have the utmost respect for work already done by our users and strive, as far as possible, to leave their sites unaltered, we do not feel it is realistic to expect us not to apply our upgrades to new sites.

I would like to be extremely clear on this point: Yola has made a decision to move away from inline text formatting. The Style Designer is the future of site creation with Yola. We are firmly of the opinion that this is the right move as it provides a great deal more flexibility and control, while ensuring a reliable, professional and attractive result. This is impossible to achieve with the old text widget which relies on outdated technology, cannot cope with externally formatted text and is not consistent across all browsers.

Our opinion of the Style Designer is reinforced when we see the quality of sites our customers are producing using it, as compared to the sites that were possible before. Customers are using it to create beautiful, professional and highly customized sites and helping us to realize our vision for Yola. Going forward our resources will be applied to supporting this, and building new features to extend the capabilities of the Style Designer.

If you do not like to use the Style Designer I would like to urge you to seriously consider whether it is advisable for you to create any new sites with Yola. We are giving you the choice on your existing sites, both to disable the Style Designer and to use the old text widget, and we believe that this is more than fair. However, we are moving forward with the development our software and the freedom of choice available to you with respect to any new sites you create is whether you want to use Yola or an alternative sitebuilder.

I am telling you this out of respect for the time and effort you invest in building your sites and I hope my response is sufficiently clear to reassure you with respect to your existing sites, as well as to give you the insight you need to make an informed decision about how you create new sites and which sitebuilder you choose to use when doing so.

I am not against moving forward and never said that I was.

to put it simple as possible ... All i'm asking is not to have upgrades FORCED upon us like starting new sites off with the pre-text on the site with widgets in the new style instead of leaving them as they are and leaving the choice up to us if we wish to replace the old text widget boxes.

Allow us the option, Not Force them upon us.
At the moment your forcing us to start with the new style txt box when starting a new site.

I also never said that sites built already by people were being affected.

My concern was starting a new site..

At least leave the templates with the old options until the new style is good and proper free from bugs in the next year or so.
We dont have time to waste with error faulty editor

cheers for hearing me out ...

Hi Rachel,

Are you using the latest version of Chrome? Have you tried clearing your cache?
