Hello Everyone!

I started a new website in addition to Entremomneurs, it's called LinConnection. Could I get some feedback on the homeage? Just started it and it looks very congested to me, not too sure...

Good idea for a site I think.....By making it about relevant sites linking I don't think you will get labeled as a link farm.

By no means would I want to be thought of as a link farm! lol I just want a simpler way for everyone to find relative inbound links without competition. I think it's a good idea for a resource.

Hi Alicia,
Yes, very nice idea for a site! Possibly adding some borders such as a colored border around the initial paragraph of text would help to separate the content on the left side from the content on the right. But design is not my strongest suite... so that is just an idea!

I honestly have no clue how to add a colored border around the text lol I changed the paragraph titles to have a nice shade of blue which I think has made it more pleasant to the visitor's eye.

Okay, I'm back now to give you an opinion! =)

1. I think your site could benefit from something extra. To me, it seems a little plain and simple. While simple can be good, I think your site may be too simple! By virtue of just adding a simple color to your text may help to make it more pleasing to the eye. Maybe you could add it to the "Welcome to LinConnection" and/or "News & Updates". Or another possibility is to change the color of the whole text!

2. Your "currently - 0 blog listed" - this is very lost in the midst of all your text. I would suggest making more white space between the main text and the blog column. However, if you decide you want to make the text a different color, then this could remain the grey tone and that will help it to stand out more.

3. You know how I feel about ad placements. ; ) If it were me, I'd place under your second paragraph.

I'm sure that this site will become every bit as fantastic as your EntreMOMneurs!

I followed your advice for adding color to the paragraph titles, and love it! I may just do that on EntreMOMneurs as well. I also changed the ad placement, because while it works on EntreMOMneurs for breaking up text...it makes better sense to have it at the bottom of the page. I also did a bit of changing to the "Currently" section, but I think if I could put a border around it, that would help a lot!

Thank littleus for the great ideas once again!

It's looking much better now! I really like the color you chose for your paragraph titles... it helps to add that something special.

You could even make a vertical line to help separate the "Currently" section from the main section. You just need to add a two column widget. Put your "Currently" section into the far right column. Then in the left-hand column, drag an HTML widget over and paste this code:
<!--<div style="width:1px; height:500px; background-color: white">-->

You can change the width, height, thickness and color of the line.

The simple statement is a huge plus for your site Alicia.

The design is clear and clean. Very pleasant simple site.

Then I agree with you. It seems to become congested.

You can break each bit down and open it up. Use the Four word spread idea. There are not a lot of words on your page. You've selected them well you have to show each idea well. You have quite a bit of space to play with.

What exactly is the Four word spread Peter? Thank you, I really quite enjoy looking at well organized simple sites, so that must be why I design them that way :P

Hi Alicia,

People Generally pick up on the first two words of a page. Pushing it to 4 if there's some interest.

Ideally you try to make your sentences 4 words for the catch.

Once they're interested then they will look at details. The first two words are the most important.

You have a good writing skill. I really think that you can capitalise on this without making it look too ad campainish.

You're in an ideal situation I feel. there are a lot of interested people in the topic. You just have to catch them. You will I'm sure of that. Experiment and read.

Stay with the simplicity. It really is a winner.

I am actually wondering whether I should take the About page, scratch it, and put the extra information onto the homepage...that way it fills up some more space and maybe I can find a better way to lay it all out...
