Hi I have purchased and registered the domain name www.piperinkent.co.uk and web forwardedto my web site www.thehappypiper.yolasite.com. when I type piper in kent into google my website does not appear on any google pages. when I type www.piperinkent.co.uk my site will appear on the first page of google which is great if you know the site you are looking for. but in my experience and research people will type things like piper in kent when looking for someone to book to play bagpipes in their area to broaden their search in which case my site is not being show on google. is their any advice you can give me as to how I can rectify this. I have been in contact with google to re submit my site and they say there is no problem their end and therefor doesnt need resubmitting. so dont know where to turn now as getting very frustrated with all this.

Regards
Peter

Hello,

It's a competitive game. You would be competing with any other website for the same within Kent or around.

Do you have any mention of your location on your page? This is important because Google will look at your content for indexing rather than any keywords and in preference to titles etc.

I would also list your business in Google Places. This will give you a geographical location and will enhance your visibility within the area. Yola have a business map which I think is Google Places so have a look at that widget. If not then look up Google Places.

Yes it is frustrating Peter. There really isn't a magic bullet but there are things that are associated with success.

Quality new material being the top of the list. Are you adding fresh stuff regularly because this is one of the things that people acknowledge is a good rank mover.

Page titles really don't count for so much. it's the content that is more important so I would put the detail in the page content as well but only once.

Glad you're in Google Places as this won't hurt and is important for local finds. I suppose also that it comes down to the spread of interest in the community and so is worth considering enhancements to your site. Maybe a guest writer to give more background and a fresh input into your site. A comments section possibly if you have guest writers, just to stimulate some discussion. You've got really nice testimonials so it's likely that there are many who would like to make comments as a discussion or as praise.

I think you just have to explore more aspects and see what shows an interest. Good luck Mr Peter.
