Hello Sue,

The Advanced Options are accessible from My Yola>Online Store at the bottom right hand side you will see Advanced Options. This will load your Store data and may take a few seconds or longer to complete.

At the top right hand side of this new modal window you will see: Dashboard, System Settings, My Profile. Click on System Settings.

To go then to Shipping, this heading is on the second line near the left. Click on Shipping and the dialogue will open.

Please let me know how this goes for you.

Hello Sue

When I log into your My Yola and go to your Online Store section, it tells me that 22 products have been added, and that the next step is to add a payment method.

Please clear your browser's cache and cookies, and retry, or try in a different browser or on a different computer.

If none of these options works, please let me know.

When I go into online store now I get the recent order screen - Yes!

I'm struggling finding my dashboard now though so can you tell me where to find that please and also

keep getting a message thast I haven't configured store front URL yet - what is that and do I need to do it now or when i've finished entering my products?

Thanks Sue

Hello Sue

You can access your Yola Online Store dashboard through My Yola > Online Store. In the bottom right corner, click on "Advanced Options". You can also access your My Yola Online Store Page through the Online Store Widget in your Sitebuilder. Click on "Edit" on the widget, and then on "Manage Store" on the bottom left-hand side.

When you create your Yola Online Store, you should make one page of your website your main Store page, = Store front page. After you've published your website with your Online Store, this main page will have a certain internet address (URL), e.g. http://mydomain.com/shop.php
You can add this URL to your settings in your Online Store dashboard and do this any time.

Hi Sue,

Just close that message for the time being. You can fill that out at anytime.

From Advanced Settings At the top right hand side of this new modal window you will see: Dashboard, System Settings, My Profile. Click on System Settings.

To go to P&P go to Shipping, this heading is on the second line near the left. Click on Shipping and the dialogue will open.

You will now see a few entry areas.

Click on New Shipping Method. A modal window will appear. Click on the first item options beside Select Shipping Region and select the region you wish to ship to.

Item 2: Select how you calculate shipping?

You need to make a decision here. This depends on the carrier you wish to use for shipping. I don't know where you are located and this would help if you need assistance specifically with this.

Looking at your site it looks like a flat rate postage of 2 GBP's per order?

Thanks for your help so far

I've looked at the shipping and what i would like to do is set it up as postage depending on size of envelope and weight as per royal mail ie large letter or small packet depending on qty ordered and weight of packet plus an amount of say 25p to cover the packaging - is this too complicated? I am located in Nottinghamshire and would look to be delivering in the united Kingdom I would imagine.

Hi Sue,

Unfortunately Royal Mail doesn't have an automatic electronic postage/shipping API so it needs to be put into a custom table. You would need to work out the postage based on numbers of cards or items (weight) and plug these into a table within the custom option of the shipping, the additional 25p per order is an easy cost to include and can be done automatically. The postage cost info is available from your local PO and possibly online. I've previously set up a table with 1500 elements for a postage table in that way and would be happy to assist you with this if needed. I would need the details of weights per card to work out whether or not it would be envelope or small package and I would need the destination zones from Nottinghamshire to the rest of the UK.

If you only wish to sell items within the UK then you would need to create a Zone just with the UK (and the localities within the UK with their respective zones if there were different postal rates for different zones). That would mean that any others from outside the UK would get an error when they tried to order from another country. If you wish to sell outside the UK then you would need to create another zone for the rest of the world

Hi

Thankyou , I understand some of that now but if someone ordered a few items would I be able to combine postage in some way?

Yes.

It's an automatic function. The postage is calculated per order.
if however, a person buys products in two sessions then postage would be separate for each order. The system doesn't remember a previous session. In such cases you would need to re-calculate manually.

So the system adds the postage together and I would be able to calculate a combined postage figure if someone ordered a number of items at one time?
How would i do that?
Please

Hi Sue,
It should do that automatically based on the combination of the products. You set this up in your shipping.

Hi Gop

10 days ago you said you could assist me in setting up a table of rates for postage, that would be brilliant, I do need some help please

Weights per card are 70grm,108grm,115grm,125grm
I would want to add .25p or .75p per item for packaging-depending on product.

I would be posting worldwide

Thank you for your support

Hi Sue,

I would need a list of postage costs if you are using RM for your local shipping and the same if you are using them for Int'l shipping. RM does not have an automatic system for this,

The weights can be accommodated within the table and also you must add the weights to the product details. There is a field provided when adding products. This is most important.

The packaging costs would best be added to your product item costs since this is item dependent.

Hi Gop

Also we offer for the customer to have a name put onto the door plaques - is there some way they can do this on the website when ordering or do they have to do this via email or phone.

We also take commissions which I presume has to be via email or hone but if someone chooses a card and wants mum or sister etc or age on there is there some way it can be done when ordering?

This is a custom product and can be included within the process of ordering a product.

The issue of commissions I don't know.

Hi Gop

Royal Mail postage costs are:-

large letter up to 100g - .90p
101g to 250g £1.20
251g to 550g £1.60
551g to 750g £2.30

more than 2 items ordered would need to be posted by small package costs as follows:-

up to 750g £2.70
751g to 1000g £4.30
1001g to 1250g £5.60
1251g to 1500g £6.50
1501g to 1750g £7.40
1751g to 2000g £8.30
2001g to 4000g £10.30

We are just looking to supply to the UK

Thanks for your help

That's clear Sue. Thank you.

Can I just confirm that there are no postage zones that would affect the postage costs for small packets? For example a parcel would cost the same from your place to the far NW of Scotland as it would across town?
(Including N. Ireland and the various islands?)

I'm only asking because we can include it easily in the schedule and you'd hate it if your customer paid and that a significant difference in postage was discovered after payment. Your stuck then I think under Brit Consumer Law, plus it's bad form to ask for more payment after the deal is done.

OK. There's one ambiguity. It seems that you can have either large letter or small pkge for items less than 750 gm. How do we differentiate this?

I think an easier way would be to be specific. For example, packages less than 200 gm go by letter and packages 200 grm and greater go by pkge? (those weights were plucked because I can't envisage your product versus weight for this exercise but you would know.

When this is worked out I'll have the setup ready for you.

OK

If more than 2 items are ordered they will not fit in a large envelope so irrespective of weight they will need to go in a package. So could we work on that?

But I agree to have a specific weight would be ok so 250grm would be the wieght I would go by, under 250grm - large letter/ over 250 grm small package.

Thankyou for your prompt reply

Nearly have the logic clear :)

Do your items vary much in weight?

Would 2 items always weigh more than 250 gm?

We need to work on weight as this is the only useable parameter we have for postage, so I'm trying to work out a logic that would cover the requirements yet offer the best deal on postage with you. Item number doesn't fit into the parameters for postage type selection

Hi Gop

Sorry couldn't reply yesterday.

Our items weigh between 95 and 150 usually

No 2 items wouldn't always weigh more than 250 grm but 3 would.
I'll send you an email

Thankyou

Great Sue.

Thankyou..

I am tempted then to go for a cut off of 200 grams for the letter and everything else as parcel? This doesn't mean that you are compelled to send an item by parcel post. For example you could offer the refund of the difference or include a discount purchase on subsequent items. The real thing in these situations is to cover most of your cost bases and minimise the time of intervention. In many parts of Asia with e-com the sellers are offering free postage. Obviously they are covering their costs on the product price and remaining competitive. It's now an extremely popular method and something you may like to consider?

I think that this will to and fro as we get it fine tuned and this doesn't worry me if you are OK with the tuning aspects ? :) email is best for this.
