Online Store Sign In - how to move/remove

Hi,

I've added an online store to my site. The store has two root categories with subcategories. When I add the online store to my site, I noticed the Sign In link is there for customers to create accounts. How do I move that sign in or shopping cart link to the menu on the top of the page? Or if I want to remove account creation, how do I remove that all together.

Thanks so much for the help in advance.

To move the sign in:

To move the “Sign in” link above the categories please add the following rule to your CSS theme (Ecwid control panel -> System Settings -> Design -> CSS Themes):

Quote:
div.ecwid-ProductBrowser-auth-anonim, div.ecwid-ProductBrowser-auth-logged {
margin-top: -7em;
}
Click “Save (Ctrl+S)” and check the storefront for the changes applied.

Please note that may need to adjust the margin value for your site (i.e. they will not necessarily be and -7em).

To remove the sign in:

Use this custom CSS rule:

div.ecwid-productBrowser-auth { display: none; }

This code will remove the "sign in" link.

If you also want to remove all elements, that allows signing into your store, use this code:

div.ecwid-productBrowser-auth { display: none; }
table.ecwid-Checkout-blockTitle button, div.ecwid-Checkout-PasswordBlock {
display:none;
}
div.ecwid-Checkout-blockTitle button.gwt-Button{
display: none;
}

Then edit the labels that states "Enter your shipping address or .." and "Enter your e-mail or .." on the checkout pages.

Thanks for the response. What if I want to move sign in above the menu where it says Contact Us? Will it show up on my home page where there is no online store widget?

See screenshot

No you can't do this from within the store CSS as this is outside the store wrapper. There may be anther solution but would require a workaround at a fairly sophisticated level. There are commercial developers shown on the Ecwid site that you may like to contact?

Suggest that you add this to the ideas section on Ecwid. This is a voting page and if the idea gets enough votes it will be worked on and implemented. http://ideas.ecwid.com/

Hey I would like to do something similar to the OP. I would like tom have the "Sign In" link be horizontally aligned with the "Categories" breadcrumb that is on the upper right of the store widget. What changes do I make to the CSS? You can see my store at emmyella.com/shop.php

Hello Emmanuel,

This should be able to be done. May I ask that you make a sketch (rough as guts) so that there is no ambiguity on the placement. Then I may be able to direct you specifically with this.

Gop.

Hey Gop,
I took a screen grab to show what I would like to do to the "Sign in" link.
The original "Sign in" link is circled in red. I would like to move it down to the new "Sign in" link which is below it. I made a horizontal black line that runs from the bottom of the "Categories" breadcrumb across the page where I would like the sign in link to be.

I hope this explains it well

Thankz Emmanuel,

I will look at this in day light hours if that's OK. Not difficult, hopefully, but more concentration than I have at the moment.

Hi Emmanuel,

This code which is almost identical to the above:

div.ecwid-ProductBrowser-auth-anonim,
div.ecwid-ProductBrowser-auth-logged {
top: 2px;
margin-right: 7px;
}

can be placed in your Store CSS.
Ecwid control panel -> System Settings -> Design -> CSS Themes

Try it and see what happens then change the top :xxpx; and see where it wanders to. I think this secanting (hopefully) will get you there.

Hey Gop,

It tried this and it doesn't look like anything changes. I even made the top: 200px; and the link is right where it was before. Any ideas?

Can I confirm that you are adding this to your Store CSS as distinct to your site CSS. They are completely separate and accessible in different ways?

Yes, I'm adding it to the Store CSS which I access through the Advanced Options link.
I made a copy of the standard style and add the changed in a white text box over a greyed out text box with the whole store CSS save it and then activate it.

Thanks
Emmanuel

You certainly did it correctly, Emmanuel. Thanks for confirming that.

I will do some work on it to day and get back to you. I'm sorry that one didn't work out of the box.

Hi Emmanuel,

The sign in positioning is quite rigid it seems. It is part of a table. The above fix may not work because it is trying to move to a reserved area that the category title holds.

One solution that has worked has been to delete the "sign-in" and then using a link place it in another position. Obviously you can change the wording as well if preferred. The link then hooks to the actual sign-in module. Let me know if you want further info on this process.

People have moved heir sign-in link this way into another column and even to the heading area of their page.

I can't see a way to move it down to the category line easily as mentioned because they are both different parts of HTML tables.

Hey Gop,
Thanks for all your help.
I'll think the solution you mentioned would work. I have to check with the person I'm building the website with to see if it works for them.
Just to make sure: With the process you mentioned above will I be able delete the "Sign in" link and move it to a position outside the store widget to maybe under the the menu on the top of the page?

Thanks
Emmanuel

Yes, you can definitely remove the "Sign in" phrase and subsequently place a link at another place. I can get the outline code for you from Ecwid if you wish me to?

Hey Gop,
Please get the outline code for from Ecwid. I'll try to talk the person I'm doing the website for out of this but just in case I can't, I'd like to know how to do it.

Thanks

Hey Gop,
One last thing about moving the "Sign in" button. I've got it removed and now I would like to add that link to the nav menu of the site how do I change the url of the link in the nav menu so that it does not go to a page but instead shows the pop up asking for the login information

Thanks
Emmanuel

Hi Emmanuel,

The Sign-in form isn't able to be placed in a free standing pop-up. It is anchored to its page.

Just following up on this, is there a solution? I want the sign-in link to be for the whole site, top right or something. Is there a way to move it in the HTML/CSS code?

Hello amegahed

Are you still referring to the Online Store Sign In link? I've moved it into the top-right corner of a test store. Please have a look at it here. Is this the way you'd like the Sign In link to appear for your store as well?
