i need opinions on this page: http://testvillage.yolasite.com/ewert
Are the faucets too big? The only problem if I make them smaller, the type will be smaller and it's already small. I like the idea--any suggestions? Also, does the background work?

I don't like that style bevel on the banner(nothing wrong with it just a personal preference).....Is that a paint.net effect?
I do like what you have done though....The faucets look just the right size and are a great idea for that site.....Maybe a little text about the company would be nice.

I'm not sure about that bevel myself. I kinda like it and I kinda don't. LOL I did it in Photoshop Elements. I was planning some text but wanted to be sure about the faucets first. Would it be dumb to put two on each side and text in the middle?

I don't think it would look dumb.....give it a shot.Would be a matter of preference again and you can always change it back if you don't like it.....What size is that banner? I use a bevel on photoscape you might like....I find all these different graphics programs each seem to have their own little things they do well and not any of them do it all well

I actually figured out I could change the bevel on it, but Ed's are so much cooler! I'm always looking for new stuff. Is that just photoscape.com?

Is it possible to recreate the images? Make the faucets a little smaller and then put the words in there to barely fit so the words can be the same size they currently are and the faucets a little smaller?

I already tried them smaller but I have 40+ old eyes and I'd like to read the text. :)

I see that the Bear is not the only one that likes those jelly icons... I thought maybe the cool blue icons needed a cool blue banner background to match... Try these out for a spin. I enlarged, stretched and sized them to match the banner dimensions...

To save the 900x200 sized ones just click on the image to see it enlarged in the next window.

And my opinion on the faucet size is that they are perfect as they are... ;)

Happy site building and great start Diane... ;)

AWESOME, Ed!! Thank you so much! I was looking for a tutorial on making those jellies but I couldn't find one. And my banner didn't have the right color either. This is just perfect! Thanks again

Hello Diane,

It's adorable! I assume you'll be making the faucets or their text into hyperlinks? Great navigation if that's the plan.

Best wishes,
Sister

Thank you. Yes, they will be clickable. I'd like to also have a sound effect on mouseover but I have to figure out how to do that first!
Your site looks really nice. What a beautiful painting!

Okay, Ed's totally incredible awesome banner is in place. I sat staring and enjoying until the screen went black! Thanks again so much. This site is for my brother-in-law and I'm sure he will appreciate it very much.

Hey Diane just the Bears 2 cents worth but when I make a banner for a business I try to keep the company's contact info out of it because when it comes time for them to move, change their numbers or hours they cannot so easily edit the banner that was created by the designer. (I have heard horror stories about having the ideal banner and no way to edit it) If you do however need to add the contact info always give them a blank copy of the banner without the info so that they can have it edited at a later date if they need to. As you are family he has the upper hand already. ;)

Additionally, the other reason that I always add the address, contact info and hours to the (text) content of every page is for SEO. If you only had his address in the banner then search engines cannot utilize the info.

The one that I did above was just as a lark and all it needs is your running plumber and if you wish your bros contact info below the name and slogan. You will need to reduce the size just a bit on the little guy but in the plumbing business the name is more important and needs to really stand out...

I used http://supalogo.com/ for the lettering. The two tone letters with dark blue shadow fit in quite well and stands out just enough to say look at me and remember my name... ;)

Gotta run...

Really nice. Supalogo is supafun! Thanks, I'll have to see which one he likes. They've been in the same place with same numbers, etc. forever so I don't think I have to worry about that! LOL

Thought these might come in handy for you. I made them large enough to be used as a single image background if you like. The second is large enough even for those with the highest screen settings.

You could make some pretty cool buttons with the earlier ones for the banner as they are rectangular. Make them smaller, then make a copy and either lighten or darken the image and it becomes a mouse-over button that changes.

Just had a look at the site now (after the changes) and I think it looks brilliant.
I think the taps (faucets as you call them) are a very nice touch.
I think the "drips" would look nicer if they were a bit smaller.
Or, how about an "OnMouseover" drip... just a thought.
